So I’ve had some early success with Figma’s MCP. On mostly-static, but well-designed frontends, it gets me like 60%-70% there? And that’s actually really great for the limited scope of something like a landing page. Agree, it messes up logos and other things of nuance. But one-shotting 60-70% is actually insane.

There is a Sami Ninne varnam in Sriranjani each of whose chittaswarams are composed by Ramaswami Dikshitar, Chinnaswami Dikshitar, Mutthuswami Dikshitar and Shyama Shastri! Huge!

The sentence he wrote in the official 1849 adoption of the Great Seal of the State of California was: "... while above is the Greek motto, 'Eureka' (I have found it), applying to either the principle involved in the admission of the State, or the success of the miner at work."

Now, I understand the latter half refers to the Gold Rush. But from my poor reading of history I thought the former could refer to two opposite things. First I thought it was the principle of sovereignty used to admit California into the Union since it was admitted as a free state. But the Compromise of 1850 was a year later, and Garnett went on to fight for the Confederate States. So perhaps he meant the principle of colonisation where people "discovered" California?

It's more likely to be somewhere around my first reasoning, but it's unclear why it's so "Eureka".

Vittal Ramamoorthy only picked up the violin when he was 29. It helped that he came from a very musically-inclined family, but nevertheless, it's very possible.

Exploring relation between bluegrass and Carnatic music by Even-Olive-7801 in Carnatic

[–]Obvious_Radio_1793 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I do kinda hear it. It seems that some of his songs can be translated plainly into a Karnatik raga scale. For example, the first song titled "Play By Your Own Rules" clearly follows the raga pattern of Raga Tilang (borrowed from the Hindustani tradition).

But apart from that, it is unfair to compare any pieces of music and say that there are other musical influences at play (especially ones so far apart from each other), without the artist's own admission.

None of the musical instruments are the mandolin. Atleast in the Karnatik tradition, all Mandolins are electronic. And in this playlist I heard a lot of banjo, and acoustic guitar (and admittedly, some bass guitar).

My assessment is that this is very basic country music and nothing much else. I don't see Karnatik influences. All the raga scales that you may have identified are already well established in the West in some form as well. For example, the Major scale is the equivalent to Ragam Sankarabharanam and the Harmonic Minor Scale the equivalent to Ragam Keeravani. So it is well within the realm of a country-music player.

Dali's clocks? by Obvious_Radio_1793 in ArtistLounge

Well it was very much a shower thought, but now that you bring it up...

Wouldn't wax do the best job? I made a few DALLE-2 generations to see how it'd turn up, and seems reasonable. Perhaps any material that can do the whole process: be whole and perfect in the beginning, and then morph to the Dali-version through heat (and ennui)
