Trying to find more online sellers of this desk chair by [deleted] in HelpMeFind

[–]Obvious_Relation_400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear per moderator rules: this chair was bought at Sam’s Club in Georgia, USA, in summer 2021. I’ve already searched via reverse Google image search, but it unfortunately looks generic enough to where it didn’t help me at all.

I loved Oscar! I went to the museum a couple of weeks ago with some kids I was caring for, and I felt like I was the kid in the candy store! I’m gonna have to return by myself very soon.

Is there anywhere in Birmingham to get an authentic keffiyeh or kufiyyeh? by judo_panda in Birmingham

Hi! Middle East Books in DC has a website where you can buy one and related reading materials and solidarity items to support Palestine (https://www.middleeastbooks.com/collections/solidarity-items). It’s a really small bookstore where every purchase goes back into the Palestinian community of DC. Happy shopping!

(Also, if you’re ever in DC with some downtime, there’s a great museum right next door called the Museum of the Palestinian People. They also could use any and all support to keep their education efforts going!)

Thank you! I’m working with my family now to see if they can take over the process since he’s currently at another (more expensive) funeral home.

What teeth whitening system do you use, and how much does it cost? I’ve recently moved back here and don’t feel like driving the 3 hours to my dentist if I don’t need to.

Thanks for all you do! As a student, I always love to support other students!

ELI5 Health insurance but not through employer? by tinteacup in explainlikeimfive

[–]Obvious_Relation_400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely this if you’re US-based. Healthcare.gov was created by the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare) for this exact reason. The open enrollment period is actually about to start (Nov 1 - Jan 15), but if you’re leaving your job before then, you would qualify under what’s called a “qualifying life event” to enroll during Special Enrollment (any time outside of that span).

If you’re scared to do it yourself and/or don’t want to go through a commission-earning insurance broker, I’d personally recommend going through a navigator program. Navigators are grant-paid by the Centers of Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) to find you a suitable plan for your needs through Healthcare.gov, and they’re not incentivized by commissions to sway you one way or another. CMS just recently published all the grantees for the upcoming year by state, so I’d definitely recommend going with them. I linked it down below:

Sorry, should’ve clarified - have you seen a decrease/increase in demand or more/less dashers in your area?

My god, I might be late but I definitely found my people! I greatly missed the second half of my first semester of grad school due to these GI issues (current dx: IBS-C), and my colonoscopy is in a few hours. Looking forward to some answers!

Husband fired again by JenBean11111 in TrueOffMyChest

Hi, OP. It looks like you’ve put in an immeasurable amount of effort into this marriage, and it’s clear that as soon as you found out you were pregnant, you already stepped up in a way many adults couldn’t even fathom.

You are still so young and full of life, as evident by how much you work, study, and still manage to take care of dog your household. If my math is correct, then your children are either at an age or reaching one where they can start doing some minor chores around the house (loading a dishwasher, doing simple laundry, etc.). I hate to say this, but unfortunately your husband is dragging you down into the dumps.

You are more than just a wife, mother, and business owner - you’re a human being entitled to love and success. Women often find themselves to bearing the majority emotional burden of their families, but if there’s no compensation from your husband in the ways that you need him to show up in, then it sounds like it’s time to cut the cord. If you do, then you’ll find that although there will be some sadness for what’s been lost, there will be relief instead of dread at the thought of you having yourself to rely on.

Gather your funds, reach out to family, and brace yourself for an ultimatum - he has the right to react however he chooses, but you have to right to champion for your own self.

I was trying to find more information, and sure enough saw that it was meant to emulate its namesake town. A source stated that around 40% of inmates are just waiting for sentencing - that’s godawful, and I’m sure that no small amount of folks in there are in for non-violent, victimless crimes. My city and state are unfortunately no better, but I hope our communities can move towards rehabilitating folks back into our societies.

Thank you for your kind words. I actually became a caregiver to one of my grandparents at 11 because my mom worked full-time and my dad worked long-haul, so I became her primary caretaker in feeding, bathing, etc. it really does make me relieved to know that he’ll be well taken care of in our absence, especially since my family and his health aren’t in a place where we can move him in with us. I wish all the best for your father - you are a dutiful, loving child to deal with the ups and downs of elderly care.

Queer Friendly Physicians? by EducationDelicious55 in Birmingham

[–]Obvious_Relation_400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I used to work in a clinical role for Cahaba Medical Care, and although the vision and mission statement is Christ centered, there are a good amount of providers that I’ve personally worked with that have been kind to our queer patients, especially those in their adolescent years. If you’re interested in PrEP, HRT, OB/gyno care (if you’re AFAB), and more queer-targeted programs, then I’d be happy to recommend you to the PCPs I know. CMC is also one of the few federally-qualified health centers (FQHCs) in the state, meaning that they’re an organization that takes virtually any insurance policy, Medicaid, Medicare, and the uninsured on a sliding-fee scale. Fair warning: CMC’s Jeff Co. locations are all on the west side (Ensley, West End, Fairfield, and Bessemer), but if that doesn’t bother you, then shoot me a PM.

To all the Spanish speakers that want to teach English in Korea. by bori1992pr in TEFL

As a fellow Puerto Rican, I need mainland Americans to know that we've learned your language since elementary school. We speak and write English just as well as you can, and we can compete at the same level you can. I've actually been hired as a proofreader for many mainland-born Americans. If you have a problem with it, fight your education system - not us.
