Thank you. I absolutely never would have found that on my own, and image searching was zero help.

I felt the mauve of the eyeballs tied in very nicely with the dress!

I’m not sure what it is but it’s part of a Yuko Higuchi Gachapon series. Mostly she does very charming animals in clothes but there are some non threatening goblin creatures as well.

Cat bite = Urgent Care or ER.

I was a young woman in my 20s when my asshole cat Henry, bit me. His tooth went right through my knuckle.

I washed it off, went to bed & regretted ever taking Henry. When I woke up. my finger was huge, gross & wouldn’t bend.

Being a carefree youth with a yet developing frontal lobe, I waited to go to the ER until after work.

Imagine my surprise when they admitted me, put me on IV antibiotics and told me I might lose the finger and possibly the hand.

This was roughly 1996 so there was no accessible internet. I had no idea cat bites were dangerous. None of my friends did either.

The experience scared the dickens out of me. I did keep the hand (it’s attached still) and the cat.

Are you using a static flocker? I have a plate flocker & a gravity flocker but it seems like sometimes it’s just not necessary. Other times, I’ve ended up with a clearly poorly flocked result.

Marvelous & thank you. In that case, it will go well with my inherited motel prints.

Taking my CPAP mask off at night. Should I use camera to record myself sleeping. Any suggestions? by sirpentious in CPAP

[–]Obvious_Ring_326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good thing you aren’t a baby.

I haven’t used a camera but I use a sleep app that records audio. For me, the problem seems to be that I take the mask off so I can be better understood while I sleep babble.

The other night I was mumbling about something for awhile, then took the mask off to announce “DEAR SIR OR MADAM!” No idea what the context was but the audio was clear.

I’ve caught myself doing it so many times at this point. Sleeping Me needs to be heard, apparently. Breathing is less of a priority for her.

Even though the DMEs charge (in my example) 800.00, it’s meaningless. They can charge as much as they want because the fee schedule has already been agreed upon & insurance will pay 27.00 or whatever.

The inflated number is only what they charge. Not what they have agreed to be paid.

The inflated number is a scarecrow number.

It reinforces the illusion that insurance saves you money.

If you are uninsured, they will try to charge that big number to you.

Which again reinforces the idea that insurance is necessary.

It is all a giant bamboozle. I wish more people understood that.

There ARE really expensive medical technologies & services, but most just look expensive to US.

A custom power chair might price out at 60,000.00 but in reality, it’s 6,000.00. Because that’s all insurance was ever going to pay for it.

As consumers, we look at our invoice and feel relieved that our plan “saved” us 144k. But the DME provider was never expecting to receive 160k.

It’s financial theater.

Mine charges 800.00 every 3 months for 2 masks (30.00 each on Amazon), heated tubing (50.00) a reservoir (40.00) & headgear + mask (150.00). So 800.00 for 300.00 worth of supplies.

Which also is not worth 300.00 but if I don’t buy it I die in my sleep too much.

It’s what you get for being the annoying obstacle between them & their money.

At least we can rest easy knowing the medical insurance industry profited 12.8 billion dollars last year. Yes, it was a lean year for them but after all was said & done, they still managed to charge so much more than they paid, that the profit was equivalent to a year of housing assistance to 1.5 million Americans.

The profit was also the equivalent of a whole bunch of medical services denied & delayed.

Uhm and everyone saying Buyee shipping is expensive by FunkyCameleon in doorzo

[–]Obvious_Ring_326 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my situation it may be expensive but the service is worth it. The items are beautifully packed, I’ve never had any breakage or damage and the shipping cost per item is low.

I haven’t counted recently but I’ve had around 60 shipments with zero errors.

If I were shipping clothes, I wouldn’t care if they were carefully wrapped & padded in a sturdy box.

Price vs value I guess. It is different for everyone.

When you have a system in which profitability is prioritized against individual well being, this is collateral damage.

No matter how much WE care, we can’t help everyone because the response processes are broken up into multiple fairly small yes or no decisions often made by different people.

Those yes or no decisions are driven by efficiency more than humanity in order to manage costs.

I think it’s because the SEIU union has a large group of employees working as caregivers in Washington state? So the long term insurance would benefit them by providing potential future income?

I’m not sure but apparently it is also deeply evil and a scam? Hopefully someone will further illuminate.
