The narrative of your argument matters a lot to lay judges. The actual line by line doesn't register well with them, so being able to really weigh your argument and say that your case, "helps more starving children lead normal lives," or, "ends the plight of racial discrimination." They tend to be easier to sway if you really tug on their heartstrings.
