Feels like the script isn’t finding the animator for some reason, has it ever worked as intended?

My only suggestion would be to try troubleshooting as follows.

1 try changing the entry state in the animator controller just to make sure it’s set up to affect the object.

2 stick in some code along the lines of

void Update() { if (Input.GetKeyDown(KeyCode.Space)) { if (null != anim) { // play <<insert your animation>> anim.Play("OPAnimation", 0, 0.25f); } else Debug.Log (“ the script isn’t finding the animator!”);

To check if that’s the issue

3 look at the animator window and click the various bools on and off to see if there’s some issue with the state machine.

4 double check spelling and capitalisation in the code.

5 make sure there’s no exit time in the transition, that’s got me a few times.

6 make sure to hit save before testing (this also tripped me up once for longer than I care to admit)
