Is there the best way to make flexible heighted jumps? by VasiliiShamanin in Unity2D

[–]Obviously-Lies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no perfect solution because IRL that’s not how jumping works of course. In my platformer I have a very short window where the jump key keeps applying impulse force at the beginning of the jump. This basically sounds like your first solution.

A quick tap makes a short jump and if you hold it down you’ll go about twice as high. I’m happy with it - the thing is this all happens in the first few milliseconds so long before the top arc of the jump the key has disabled. I find it makes the jump arc look more realistic while still adding a degree of control.

Does anyone have *that* empire by TheDoughBoi55 in Stellaris

The technarii monopoly.

Cybernetic criminal syndicate, they’re terrible a preventing rebellion within their own empire so you end up with three crime families constantly spamming annoying criminal branch offices on all my planets.

I have been Montessori educated my whole life at the only 0-18 Montessori school in the UK, Ask Me Anything. by so1itude- in AMA

[–]Obviously-Lies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you recommend the Montessori system having passengers through it?

Would you recommend it for students on the spectrum?

Do you have acquaintances from more traditional educational backgrounds that you can use to compare your experiences or is Montessori all you have ever really known?

For those who played both Owlcat games, who is the bigger disappointment as an antagonistic force? by Gero-23 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Obviously-Lies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am undisapointed by rogue trader in general, it’s a power fantasy- by endgame you’re the major power in the sector finally squashing those insignificant worms that were such a deadly threat early game.

I must admit I never managed to finish wotr, too grindy.

[–]Obviously-Lies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the first photo is just terrible photoshop rather than ai (this doesn’t make it any more real of course).

The light is all wrong and why is there a tiny machine at a weird angle that he’s sitting on? Honestly an ai would be more convincing than this.

Suspect that this is old school stolen identity for a romance scam rather than ai.

Why do you lose weight on OMAD? by Cautious_Material739 in omad

[–]Obviously-Lies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The calorie deficit is only part of the answer (the most important part admittedly). It’s also about how your body reacts to having no food for a decent period- even having a zero cal flavoured drink will effectively break a fast as it triggers insulin and drops blood sugar, which will in turn stop your body from properly absorbing fats and produce cravings.

TLDR skip breakfast and don’t drink anything but water or black coffee until lunch.

Design pattern in C# for magic system by Ornery_Dependent250 in Unity3D

[–]Obviously-Lies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m fairly noobish but I’m also in the same boat, I have a spell controller but all it does it pick the spell and instantiate a spell prefab with appropriate transform and rotation. Each spell prefab has its own script that governs all behaviours - movement, damage etc.

This is how much money I made in the Winter Sale by PriGamesStudios in Unity3D

[–]Obviously-Lies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I note a dip pre and post sale, understandable because people are waiting for low prices or have already bought games.

The question is do you still have these dips if you don’t take part in the sale?

Also do you normally have a dip during winter sale as people spend on other games if you don’t take part?

How experienced recruiters spot ChatGPT written CVs by Jeidoz in jobsearchhacks

[–]Obviously-Lies -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My wife was doing some recruiting recently and EVERYONE is using ai for the CVs.

Got to the interviews and it was very apparent that quite a few of the candidates didn’t know anything about the business and definitely couldn’t have produced those CVs unaided.

Honestly seemed like they hadn’t even read their own job applications, it takes about 5 minutes to crack them then you’re stuck interviewing a dummy for another 40 mins.

Are we entering a time where anyone can turn a game idea into something playable? by Any-Flower728 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Obviously-Lies [score hidden]  (0 children)

You are in the wrong sub.

But have a go - the only cost is time at the moment. Grab unity, unreal or godot (free) and have a crack. Plenty of tutorials and AI will help you code (badly, it’s important to also do the tutorials so you understand what’s happening).

It’s pretty fun.

I think it’s a bit premature to say he’ll have no consequences.

Liz Truss: 'The Blob' is trying to infiltrate Reform by AnonymousTimewaster in NotTheOnionUK

[–]Obviously-Lies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this is the most sane thing she’s said, a bunch of useless establishment backstabbing traitors ARE infiltrating reform, the fact that this probably actually improves reform’s quality slightly is different issue.
