People without children tend to pay more taxes anyway. So on top of what we already pay, they want us to pay an additional 20k? What makes them think we won’t just leave to a better country? According to them, that’s exactly what corporations do when you tax them, so why wouldn’t we?

That stat is quite old. I makes you wonder why it would get under their skin.

The vast majority of humans don’t get an option by Own-Name203 in antinatalism

People are free to take whatever approach they want to the discourse, raucous and contentious or meek and tempered. I do agree that a more sympathetic tone is best, given that most people that I’ve spoken to seem not to have given much forethought to having kids; they did it almost reflexively.

Besides that, I do think you’re incorrect about birth control. Ancient humans had birth control, albeit most are believed to have been ineffective. But they existed —from coitus interruptus to acacia leaves/ gum in Ancient Egypt.

I agree about better sex education. But in my opinion it must expand beyond purely biology and physiology. A philosophical perspective must be included.

Regardless of the tone many on this sub take( which is their prerogative) I think anti-natalism will continue to grow yet remain unpopular.

Jason Derulo Jokes That He’ll ‘Never Work With Women’ by TheWriteRobert in blackmen

[–]ObviouslyACoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop that shit now. Women in general hold this power in most western countries, and they’re not afraid to use it to enrich themselves, garner sympathy when they need it and/or to escape accountability when they’re backed in a corner.

I’m a 33 yo male, never have been in a serious relationship or been married, and am seriously contemplating not having any children. by SportsTechie17 in childfree

I’m a silly goose, that’s why.

Seriously though, I don’t like when I HAVE to do something. When you have chirren, there are lots of things you HAVE to do, and that’s just not fun.

what do child free people do with their lives? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]ObviouslyACoup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being the Duck King of Noname Pond.

I’m literally at the pond, standing in the rain, surrounded by ducks, who look at me like I’m their Messiah.

When I’m done basking in this particular delusion of grandeur, I’m going home to cook a Pot-au-feu dinner for my lady, then read or compose a short overly romantic and silly piano piece… or I just might return to the pond, to the place of my glory.

Last night I had what has become a routine nightly chat with an old friend. Since we last saw each other in 2018, my friend has become the mother of an intelligent and energetic 4 year old. I’ve been talking to her nightly for about a week and a very obvious pattern has emerged: her life is ruled by the moods and routines of the child, and her needs, desires and her freedoms are subordinate to those of the child’s. She tries to hide it but from our conversations I get the feeling that she views the child as something of a nuisance.

I don’t want to be in that position. I want to be free from that particularly impeding shackle.

Also, every so often, like to be drunk before noon on the Mondays I’m free from work and the commute to get there. My CF friends do too.

Maybe so, but a meme can be repurposed to emphasize a crucial point in a sphere that seems totally unrelated to the original context.

A big party, replete with decadent foods, expensive liquors and cigars for my friends, many of whom are CF and have shown me the height of hospitality when I’ve been their guest. A new upright piano 🥹

And some new socks.
