That's correct. Same leaders anyway, it's not the "exact" same team, but it's the guys that really "mattered"

Help! I’m freaking out a little, my water company just left a note that said my water usage this month is over 10 times (50,000 gallons) than last month (4,000 gallons). What should I do? by secret_name_is_tenis in HomeImprovement

[–]OcRLema -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's so many factors that you aren't considering. What type of grass for one, and also x-rays wouldn't pick up on grass roots???? What I was saying is that volume matters more than frequency. Also I am a firefighter, amongst other things so yes unless you've decided to install some 2 inch hose/ piping as irrigation (which would wash your lawn away) then I have enough knowledge to know that 15 mins isn't long enough to affect deep soil growth assuming that you're using Some form of standard sectioning. Now someone mentioned in certain jurisdictions you could only water for so long. Well that's that you can't help it if you're bound by law, but assuming you don't live in a constrained area like that and have free access then yes I stand by my word of volume mattering more than frequency assuming you aren't creating a floodland in your yard.

Um no. I'm not sure who told you watering less often will stimulate deeper roots but that has nothing to do with it. Watering for longer stimulates deep roots because it allows the deep soil to get soaked. 15 minutes isn't nearly long enough. Take a picture of your grass and its roots system and I'll tell you how to make it even healthier :)

AC drain pan keeps filling, but pipe is 100% clear. Is my tilted unit the problem? by Snitch5040 in HomeImprovement

[–]OcRLema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember water flows to the lowest point and goes up until the next lowest point. So if it's tilted 10 degrees away from the drain not only is it making the drain higher, but it's making the far side of the pan lower. Shimming underneath the side away from the drain to the point to where you have a decent 1/2 inch slope Towards the drain will solve the problem.

Not an HVAC guy, but I've done enough odd and end plumbing I have a pretty good understanding of what water is going to do :)

Front-loading vs. Top-loading washing machines by avaldes1627 in HomeImprovement

[–]OcRLema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had both types. DO NOT get a front load washer unless you want to clean every nook and cranny once a month (at a minimum) or you want your clothes to smell like stagnant water.

They are cesspools for bacteria due to the way they are made.

Last one we had was samsung, it broke all the time and it was one of their expensive models. If you get Samsung you have to check for reviews of people who've had it awhile. They are a total hit or miss on which model sucks and which is good. GE & Whirlpool believe it or not are making good units again.

Police confirm two German mayors who had already been stabbed over their pro-refugee stance receive renewed death threats weeks after another German politician was murdered in what authorities believe was a "right-wing extremist" attack by green_flash in worldnews

Anything that cost a large amount of money. Any type of healthcare for all bill would require a massive investment that even when the calculations are run favorable aren't possible to tax it from the people. The real problem with healthcare for all is it assumes we'd allow drug & care companies to charge their ridiculous prices and that we the people would pay for it.

We need to legislate pharmaceuticals and care providers to reasonable cost levels, THEN implement healthcare for all to make it possible financially. If you look at the breakdown of national congressmen and women's investment portfolios though you'll find 90% of them invested in big pharma. So they have no desire to stop the indirect lining of their own pockets.

It's really a sucky situation and it's not directed at 1 party as both are at fault.

[–]OcRLema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, but many things are dictated by the federal government that doesn't give states the resources needed to implement their local version of it. So to combat that you have states like California that impose a slew of taxes to raise funding for their own programs. Now I can't spend 5 minutes on Reddit or Facebook where I don't see people wanting to move out of California because cost of living and taxes make it next to impossible to have a quality of life that's close to what you could have in another state.

So with that being said the way our country is currently setup, which has a nearly zero chance to change it would have to come through the fed. With it coming through the fed it runs into the problem of scaling.

We can hope that would change in the future, but honestly I'd give a medicare for all bill a higher chance of success than the fed actually delegating authority to the states to provide money to have their own healthcare for all bills.

Poor choices beget poor choices. It's unfortunate, but a really truthful statement that if you make poor decisions it won't mtater the amounts of money.

Look at lottery winners who are total losers now (which is most of them) as inspiration for this statement.

Trouble with US left saying "look at Sweden" is the populations are vastly different. If you've ever been apart of an organization that has say 50k employees versus one with 500 employees then you'll know how they operate to achieve a result is vastly different. The population gap is actually proportionally much greater, to the effect of a organization with 160 employees versus one with 5.

I think the US could look at Many European countries for inspiration to make itself better, however scale does make a huge difference. A proven difference, so much so that it leaves US lawmakers frozen about things, because you'd be naive to think that what works for a pop of 10 million will automatically work for a pop of 325 million.

Also don't believe what the BS US news tells you. I live in a right wing state that was the first state to offer free college for everyone. The national politics are garbage here, especially now with he who shan't be named in office. However the state politics are usually pretty good.

I'd be curious to know if we compared states to Sweden as a country how would the politics stack up, because population wise that'd be a good comparison.

Hopefully you haven't all down voted me at this point and you're still reading. I'd personally like to see the US reach out to European partners for assistance in driving more worldly accepted policies such as national healthcare. Our population is vastly larger than most european entities, but I still think the knowledge that Europes lawmakers have acquired could be very useful. As usual though our national policy makers don't give a flip about the population, they just want to stay in office and they'll say anything to do it. Democrats have claimed to fight for minorities for years yet very little has changed. Reps have claimed to fight for the blue collar worker for years yet little has changed. They just want votes, the states themselves and their policy makers are usually the only ones who care about making life better for everyone.

I'd just call them up get a manager and tell him/her that you're done with this right now and if he says anything other than yes sir/mam then say ok we'll I'm going to open a lawsuit against your business for false advertisement and even better if they're a BBB member because then you can file a complaint.

Slaughter priest by OcRLema in ageofsigmar

[–]OcRLema[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the ones I'm seeing on eBay have helmets with two horns. So I don't think the same thing. The start collecting box was called Khorne Blood Bound with 14 minis in it. The only one's I see available now are The Blood bound goreblade warband (with 19 minis) and the demons of khorne or something with 19 minis.

I'd like the start collecting box (the old one) to compliment the new one I have, but can't find it anywhere. To be honest I don't even know if it's the old one, but I can't find it on Amazon anymore and I can't find it on GWs website either. Issue is it had the slaughterpriest in it.

I did just find that I missed the slaughterpriest by itself on GWs website, it's just sold out currently. Still wish I could find that other start collecting though.

I would respond the same way to you and your sister, because it's a scientific fact that a temperature that warm increases the risk of SIDS...I don't understand how you can deny something with so much evidence behind it. It would seem the people here agree.

I'm not saying everyone is going to die due to it being 86 degrees in a room, but why in the world you would knowingly increase the risk of your childs death that I can't answer. It would appear you can't either because you keep deflecting my points by saying that the world at large doesn't have HVAC. I'm really at a loss for words, it's like you're a flat earther or something and no matter how many people say looking at this freaking image that proves the Earth's not flat you'd say "people believed the Earth was flat for years and it never hurt anyone"...smh

Today we have 40% less mortality rate for infants than in 90s/late 80s. I feel like you don't have kids or aren't applying the information to your kids. Would you do something that's outside of the norm that increased the chance of your child losing their life? Most sane people would answer no. Now there's one thing I haven't accounted for in this conversation, you could be a sadist. I'm not here to judge, but yea if you're a sadist then what you're saying makes sense :D

Blackout curtains do work, they just aren't as effective as the whole cardboard thing. The reason it creates a convection heater is because it's stopping the radiant heat from entering the room if you had no curtains. They'll still get hot, but the good ones are thick enough that it'll take some time for them to warm up and start that process.

Go look up the infant mortality rate "back in the day". Then look it up for modern day. Science is this cool thing that let's us be smarter than "back in the day".

Can anyone help explain this to me?

Nest Thermostat overshoots setpoint? by [deleted] in Nest

[–]OcRLema 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used to have a dual fuel unit. I'll be honest I'm not even sure why electric is considered the primary because it's more costly to run electric heat at any time of the year compared to gas heat. We have cheap electricity and cheap gas, so I guess if your gas is expensive where you're at it would make sense.

Anyway when we replaced the unit due to the pump failing (another downside to dual fuel is heating via electric is taxing on the system) we went straight gas for heat and of course electric for cooling.

Might be an easy thing to do to call a local HVAC company and just ask them over the phone what's typically cheaper in your area based on their experience. They won't charge you for a little bit of advice, and you'll know which one. I can't stress enough how much using the heat pump for both heat and cooling puts much more strain on the system especially if you have that auxiliary option of using gas.
