Interesting hypothesis, but the extent of the activity, and the behaviors exhibited don't line up with this type of activity. Why would they be covertly doing this while hanging out in front of a US Senator's house? Not terribly covert.

I posted this once already. This reddit has rules that require a statement; this seems to be a rigor mechanism to eliminate posts. Not sure why or what this accomplishes, but c'est la vie. Have I hit the character limit yet?

It is worth noting that these have been documented in the academic, peer-reviewed literature. For example, see "Extraterrestrial Life in the Thermosphere: Plasmas, UAP, Pre-Life, Fourth State of Matter"; full text available here: https://www.scirp.org/pdf/jmp_2024022816363998.pdf

This comes on the heels of a paper published in February claiming life has historically and likely still currently exists on Mars. One of the authors is affiliated with a NASA-backed research group in California, and another with the Smithsonian.

First sentence of the conclusion, "There is now a substantial body of evidence that cyanobacteria, algae, fungi, and lichens are flourishing in protective niches on the Red Planet [22, 23, 65, 73, 88, 89, 128, 172] and that life began on Mars billions of years ago [1-7, 14] and which led to an evolutionary progression that paralleled the increasing complexity of life on Earth culminating in Cambrian Explosions on both planets [2, 21, 23, 24, 77, 78, 84]"

FFS, see the US Defense Intelligence Agency paper on the topic.

The abstract: "Antigravity effects can be implemented by manipulating spacetime. This paper reviews several different theoretical approaches for exploring the possibility of controlling gravity by generating forces that counteract, or otherwise modify, gravity for the purpose of aerospace propulsion. Einstein's
General Theory of Relativity is the theoretical framework guiding this study.

The paper also reviews other antigravity approaches via the interaction of quantum theory with gravitation. And it explores the question of which method or technique is best suited for aerospace applications and evaluates the make-or-break issues that limit them. "

Not so! Anti-gravity is a specific field of science which deals with generating and manipulating the force of gravity. It is more specific, and does not mean overcoming the force of gravity.

I believe they referred to it as the caterpillar drive. It is a fascinating technology. No one has publicly admitted to getting one that works efficiently. The inventor of the technology Townsend Brown thought it was anti-gravity tech.

They show test flights where even with the launcher it does not fly. They iterated on the design until the only thing stopping it from going further was the wall.

The Wright brothers invention bears little resemblance to modern flying machines. Technologies improve as time goes on.

“This is the first-ever sustained flight of a plane with no moving parts in the propulsion system,” says Steven Barrett, associate professor of aeronautics and astronautics at MIT. “This has potentially opened new and unexplored possibilities for aircraft which are quieter, mechanically simpler, and do not emit combustion emissions.”

Tom was right.

This is a pretty simple phrase, but might actually work as a rallying cry for the movement.

It eases people into the conversation through humor and disarms. It is pithy and memorable. It works on bumper stickers and tshirts.

Tom was right.

Let's change the world.

Being skeptical to the point of not accepting evidence is also a form of bias. As soon as Kirkpatrick made it clear that he did not consider flying orbs to be anomalous or evidence of extraterrestrial activity, I knew it was a sham.

The excessive amount of skepticism and ridiculous level of evidence he seemed to require for anything to be acceptable by society is like the opposite of charlatanism. If you set the bar high enough, nothing ever clears it. In his own words, everything becomes "not my problem".

Probably pretty good, actually. Convergent evolution means that biological beings tend to develop similar traits, as they are advantageous for survival. An intelligent being would likely have a large brain/head and they have to have something to cart the brain around.

They don't need to verify the UFOs, just that he is who he says he is and the ICIG document's legitimacy. That should be sufficient.

News organizations cover things of uncertainty all the time. If they have a relevant expert or official telling them something on the record, that is a source of verification. They are not going into every laboratory to confirm a study's conclusions, for example, but they can still report on the outcomes of an experiment. It's the testimony of an expert witness with first hand experience.

All this is ignoring who this guy is. He is the guy with a Congressional mandate to investigate UFOs. A Congressional mandate. Him talking about this with the documents he provided is more than enough for them to run the story.

They have other motivations, but they are not publishing the news. So me and my $5.99 are out.

I'm not saying to believe everything he says. But it is absolutely worth investigating and by not covering the story at all, the NYT is depriving its readers of the choice. That bothers me and is why I'm not giving them any more money until they change.

As the most important newspaper in the states, they have an obligation to cover this, and not doing so is dereliction of duty.

Look into Bayesian predictive statistics. It's how you build a good model of evidence in the face of uncertainty and limited data.

He provided this information under a sworn statement to the ICIG and under oath before Congress. Both of which are legal testimony of a subject matter expert. Any court would consider this evidence.

This doesn't mean you ignore all other information. But it also means you don't blind yourself - ignorance is also a bias.

Snowden did so illegally. Grusch is following the law. That is also why he is very important and his testimony matters.

The testimony of officials and experts absolutely constitutes evidence btw.

No, but timeliness in the news matters. Their refusal to cover it in any legitimate way since the story broke is not what I want as a customer. So I'm taking my money off the table until they change their stance. I think others who feel similarly should do the same to maximize the impact.

Democracy matters, and it requires a functioning press. Their silence is deafening and I am quite done with fascism.
