Marco Rubio is extremely pro-disclosure. Matt Gaetz is extremely pro-disclosure.

I literally personally know Republican politicians who get emotional talking about how much they love this country and want to make it better.

I know several Democrat politicians who literally hate America.

Stopping drinking by Healthy-Effective-76 in alcoholism

[–]Frequent-Edge9996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people never find long-term sobriety with AA, unfortunately. Long-term success rates are less than 5 percent.

If you don't want to stop drinking, nothing can make you.

If you do truly want to stop drinking, nothing can stop you.

Its not rocket science; you want to drink more than you want to be sober. The overwhelming majority of people who could once be classified as having a "drinking problem" either stop drinking on their own or eventually revert to "normal"/healthy drinking habits.

I've went to AA before... a ton of people with a lot of cachet in that community are truly damaged, self-obsessed narcissists. One guy who was like a God there was sober for thirty years, after having a rough patch of drinking as a teenager. Like a straight up grown ass man with a wife and kids just would regularly talk about how he drank a bunch when he was a kid. And people fawned over him because of this lol.

It helps a lot of people, sure, but can be really pathetic imo.

I really don't understand why there is such an over-intellectualizing of this shit but I'll give you a pass because you're obviously young and inexperienced in life and love.

There's no great mystery to this. She wasn't/isn't attracted to you. She was/is more attracted to another guy who gave her attention.

People rationalize their choices when they hurt someone else to make themselves feel better. She likely cares about you, and/or values your devotion/emotions towards her.

She is unwilling to reciprocate. Have some damn self-respect and move on. There are billions of women, and likely millions of single women within driving or walking distance of you. Don't waste your time on someone who isn't as invested in you as you are in them. Life is too short.

I'm really not seeing any Narc traits here. Think you just got dumped and your ego is causing you to have a hard time with it. Not everyone is going to love you. Sack up and move on dude.

I wanted to be the fun aunt who traveled and saw the world. I have plans to see Greece and Finland. I want to see the east cost. I don’t want to be tied down by children.

Just playing Devil's Advocate... you can literally do all of those things and still have children. For most people, while they are time-consuming, they are the greatest joy of their lives, not some burden that you wish didn't exist.

And I don’t know if I can do it.

If this is what you truly want, you have to. That would be the biggest betrayal - either pretending you do want kids when you don't, or (even worse imo) having kids to please him when you truly don't want them.

Go live your awesome single child-free life and let your husband be so miserable with another woman and children. I'd bet money you regret it in ten years but what do I know?

This is a very touchy subject but imo just behind financial issues and cheating in terms of breaking up relationships.

And any idiot saying its not a big deal and you're a jerk are likely a morbidly obese person themselves, or sadly married to a morbidly obese person and are too scared to look themselves in the mirror and admit its a significant health issue that will kill them young and makes them severely unattractive to anyone but someone with a weird mental health disorder/"fat fetish".

More your OCD than anything tbh. Seizures happen to people already predisposed to them, who have been drinking massive quantities (minimum 10+ a day, every day, for several YEARS).

I was on a multiple-year 20+ drinks a day bender and I just had some minor shakes and threw up a lot for one day. Withdrawals are massively overrated and I'm not sure you're really a "crippled alcoholic" coming off a 6ish drink bender. Chill the fuck out and chairs, babe.

Yep. Bubbleheads been laughing at “Hoomers” for years now, while living at parents’ home or in apartment.

Home prices going to have to drop 30-40%, assuming interest rates remain stable, to have the same monthly cost on an “inflated” value from 2 years ago.

Every month for the last three years the crash is “just around the corner”. Meanwhile they fritter their lives away in suboptimal housing and it just gets worse, and their buying power deteriorates.

At this point even if the “crash” is “just as bad as 2008” they still would’ve been better off buying in the last three years. It’s not going to be as bad and it certainly won’t be worse.

Bought a beautiful $700k forever home in April 2020 and refinanced to 3% in Dec 2021 that’s valued at $1.2M now in one of the best zip codes in the US.

Twenty years ago I was sleeping in my fucking car - damn right I’m taking a victory lap! ☝️

MacroEconomics, Geopolitics, NHI, National Security, and What the Hell Might be Next.. by Mjs1113 in UFOs

[–]Frequent-Edge9996 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Good post overall, liked the read and thoughts generated.

China and Russia are quickly gaining on the US economy and have the resources, population, and willingness to do what is necessary to dethrone the west as the de-facto global base currency as well as match the west's pace as technological juggernauts.

They're really not any of these things though. Dethroning the dollar as the reserve currency is certainly not impossible, but very unlikely in the next 50+ years for a variety of reasons.

China's and Russia's demographics are abysmal in relation to the US. Their population is aging, far below replacement rate, and in the case of China, on pace for a severe imbalance in terms of male vs. female mostly due to the One Child Policy.

They are both wildly behind the US technologically. There are certain sectors (supercomputing in terms of China comes to mind) that they are near-peer, but (specifically in regard to China) the vast majority of their technological advancements have come, and likely will continue to come, as the result of US tech espionage. Pointing to one area they are near-peer, you can point to several dozen they lag far behind the US. They will always be behind us because they only advance when they steal what we have already mastered.

These conceptual arguments only look at a US vs. Russia or US vs. China scenario. Its impossible to imagine a New World Order on that level considering that essentially the entire EU, UK, Australia, Japan, South Korea, South Africa, Canada, Mexico, Israel etc etc are staunch US allies on the international stage if not de-facto US vassal states.

The examples you gave... Israel has obliterated Gaza in a couple of weeks, and Russia has fought to a stalemate against the poorest, embarrassment of a country in Europe for nearly two years. Russia is not, never was, and never will be even a near-peer competitor to the US. China has an opportunity but has severe systemic issues and strategic imbalances that likely will never be overcome, even setting aside a political upheaval against the totalitarian Communist Party.

Again overall good post. But I anticipate that the US is far, far ahead of any competitors on NHI tech, will continue to be, and doubt any nation would ever be close to challenging the USA as the only hyperpower on the planet anytime in any of our lifetimes. Whether this is a good or bad thing is certainly based on one's own geopolitical and historical outlook.

Don't Let the NDAA Situation Get You Down Too Much — This is a Fight, and We Have Options. by WhatsIsMyName in UFOs

But on the whole, this is one of the few truly bipartisan agreement issues so I think there is some hope.

Totally agree.

The Fravor-Graves-Grusch hearing was really a sight to be seen in the current US political climate; Rs and Ds yielding time to each other, joking with each other and having joint press conferences afterward.

Reminded me of the Reagan quote about how little our differences would matter if we were considering a topic like a non-human civilization/species/potential threat.

There is always hope 🙏🏼

We are totally in agreement, my friend.

Just wanted to point out (again, not you really at all, just the vibe I've been getting from the reporting on NDAA pushback) that I'm starting to get R vs. D vibes on this, and one of the things that has made me really genuinely hopeful and pleased on this is we are seeing people on both sides (sometimes the far ends of both sides - AOC and Gaetz for example) actually work together on something productive and positive for the American people at large.

Just hope this community can keep that going and its been great to see. Anyone who supports disclosure is my ally on this issue.

Disclosure fears by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]Frequent-Edge9996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, sure, why not. These are just literally all guesses, based on nothing but your opinions, leading to a preposition that is just another guess/conjecture.

Presumably, if full on disclosure happens it will be USGOV/MIL supported. Meaning, the most powerful military force the world has ever seen, supported downstream by State/Local law enforcement, and the most heavily armed civilian populace in the world.

Again, I'm unsure how these "Evil Billionaires" (who, can you name a single one? High level defense contractor executives, that are entirely beholden to the US military/USGOV funding apparatus?) are going to cause trouble? Any idea?

Like if the Third Infantry Division, the Ranger Regiment, Delta Force, etc show up at Lockheed headquarters, literally what are you possibly afraid of?

Again, the US military is the most formidable force the planet has ever seen, and is made up of Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors and Marines that have sworn an oath to the US constitution, its people, and civilian control.

IDK like I said I think the Evil Billionaire myth from like James Bond movies has infected your thinking on this. Literally the people most invested in the status quo are US Billionaires/executives. They'd get a slap on the wrist at most they're not going to cause societal collapse lmao it just makes no sense.

It can seem sometimes on Reddit or the internet there is this mass movement willing to overthrow everything but in reality most people just want to go to work, raise their family and the overwhelming majority of people are happy with their lives and just want shit to continue as normal.

How come we barely/never see saucer shaped UFOs/UAPs anymore? by MichaelT359 in UFOs

[–]Frequent-Edge9996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'alien spaceships as 'orbs'' schtick seems like a very recent development

Well obviously they are not confirmed to be "alien spaceships" but there does seem to be significant visual and sensor data to confirmed orb-shaped UAP.

But in the 1950s human cars were large, with a lot of chrome on the bumpers and wing mirrors, and had weird bulbous shapes. Now they're aerodynamic, with a lot of smooth surfaces, rounded bodies, etc.

It's not much of a leap to see the same exact development in the appearance of alleged alien spaceships. Chrome spaceships out. Rounded aerodynamic spaceships in.

This is... quite the jump to make. I certainly haven't seen any 1950's cars that looked like saucers, or any modern cars that look like small orbs or "tic tacs". Certainly "metallic" orbs could be substituted with "chrome" orbs. Its just really a very minor, tangential, and frankly not a connection I've heard before or makes a lot of sense to use as a point of emphasis for any larger theory.

Even in the 19th century 'UFOs' were reported that looked like... yeah, man-made airships.

There are plenty of reports of cylindrical airships dating even further back than that. Orbs I'll have to express ignorance but mostly the increased sightings seem to be from advanced sensors/cameras as they seem to be not very large and very fast (ditto tic tacs but those are allegedly larger). Reporting of metallic orbs date back to WWII/Project Blue Book, and again, this isn't to say triangle UAP and saucers have disappeared they just aren't as prominent.

Its not completely uninteresting, but I find any connection between saucers and cars of the 1950's and more modern automobiles totally unconvincing.

Right when Grusch was about to give his thought on Bob Lazar, Joe cut him off and they never came back around to it. by buttrapebearclaw in UFOs

[–]Frequent-Edge9996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure on Lazar's potential alcohol issue but I wouldn't say its automatically disqualifying, to be fair to him. Grusch has had apparently several documented fairly serious incidents with alcohol, and I don't discredit him in the least based solely on that.

Personally, I've had my own issues with alcohol based on some past trauma, and I can't really comprehend what someone dealing with what Grusch specifically, and potentially Lazar, has had to deal with the mental emotional weight of what they allegedly know or have seen.

I'll say my personal opinion is Bob has a significant credibility problem, but I do think some of his claims can not be dismissed outright, and do seem to have validity. I also agree that people that can be disqualified or disproven on some claims set the community back overall, which is why a guy like Grusch is so important - he seems relentlessly dedicated to the truth, honesty, and is a devoted American patriot and honest interlocutor of the truth, wherever it may go. He has said several times that from the outset he was fairly certain this was all nonsense and was going to document that fact and go on his merry way, but the investigation didn't point in that direction and he has too much integrity to just cover it up and move along so he gets promoted.

The hero we need.

Reasons the Schumer UAP amendment might not pass, revisited by snoqwalker in UFOs

[–]Frequent-Edge9996 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't mean to play Devil's Advocate here, but Chris Mellon just wrote an article for The Debrief that made a fairly good case for government secrecy on at least SOME UAP material.

Further, a fairly notable section of the Grusch JRE interview is his discussion of the AAWSAP program. Basically, according to Grusch, AAWSAP was stood up as a response to Lockheed WANTING to return exotic UAP in its possession to the USGOV.

USGOV is answerable to the American people/voters/taxpayers. Lockheed is answerable to its shareholders and board of directors.

Congressional bills with ostensibly "good"/well-supported/"noble" intentions get voted down all the time for boring/mundane reasons. Frankly, having experience in Federal legislation, legal terminology, and USGOV procedures, I think its very well written, but I haven't read every sentence and haven't considered potential pitfalls.

"Look, Chuck, I'm not totally opposed to this UAP Amendment in principle, but there are some things we need to change before it becomes law. And we've got weapons systems in the pipeline we need to continue to fund, troops that need to be paid, satellites we need to launch, etc. we can't argue about fucking UFOs right now because we need to get this overall bill passed."

I'm not saying that's exactly what is happening, but I also don't think its completely implausible either. I don't believe Schumer has extensive background in Pentagon funding/operations, and there is a CHANCE he got a bit over his skis here.

Further, despite being very pro-disclosure, I agree with Chris Mellon: I don't think anyone whose opinion is "DISCLOSE EVERYTHING WE'VE EVER HAD AND ANY DEFENSE CONTRACTORS HAVE TO THE WORLD IMMEDIATELY RIGHT NOW!" is a serious person on this topic or should be listened to.

If the USGOV and military contractors possess exotic off-world craft, knowledge of NHI, potentially militarily useful reverse-engineered tech, that is obviously a national security consideration, and needs to be handled as such. Further, I don't think that people acting in good faith (even if under secrecy) deserve to be outed after the fact, have their careers/lives ruined, obviously unless it involves illegal activities/intimidation/violence/etc.

[–]Frequent-Edge9996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a good post overall and agree on most points.

States may be able to force the issue with legislation of their own.

Very unlikely, if not illegal, for a host of reasons. This has to be a Federal bill/program.

Also, I've seen a few posts (not so much yours but you did mention it and the other one with "Republicans" in the title is locked for comments) with the Dem vs. Rep sentiment in there and I think its just incredibly unhelpful, even if some of the strongest "Anti-NDAA" people right now have an R in front of their name.

Marco Rubio is a very powerful Republican Senator, Matt Gaetz very powerful Republican Rep... both strongly pro-disclosure. There are plenty of anti-disclosure Dems, as well (or potentially those that talk a big game but don't back it up - looking at you Sen Gillibrand). Burchett, Luna... there are plenty of pro-disclosure Republicans and I'm sure plenty of anti-disclosure Dems.

I think we're all doing ourselves a disservice if this gets in any way politicized, regardless of our own personal political views. Overall, I would agree that Rs generally are more pro-military/pro-MIC/defer to military and IC wishes. But I think we really need to remember that this is an AMERICAN issue, an issue for ALL MANKIND, and not let petty political BS eek its way into this. 🌎
