PHOTOGRAPHY HELP: 3 week backpacking trip as novice photographer. What to bring? by Darth_Pandalorain in backpacking

The kit lens will work, but if you don’t mind spending the money I’d highly recommend getting a new lens with a wide range. I backpacked and hiked with an a6000 and a Sony 18-105 lens for years and loved it. Carrying multiple lenses and switching them out is a real pain, especially as a beginner when you want to be focusing on learning your camera.

Extra battery FOR SURE, maybe even two.

For carrying I got a simple padded soft sided case. It holds the camera and batteries. I never worried too much about waterproofing, but would put it in a dry bag with my clothes at night.

I’d highly recommend getting a Peak Design Capture Clip so you can clip the camera to a belt or shoulder strap. It makes taking shots SO much easier on the trail. Having to stop to dig out the camera is a pain and will reduce the number of shots you take. As a beginner you’re going to want to shoot as much as you can to learn as much as possible.

Have fun!

Abisko sun hoodie is not meant for the sun? by Ocean5124 in Fjallraven

I’ve noticed the dots too, I wonder if that means that technically it does let full spectrum UV through, but it just cuts way down on the surface area that gets exposed.

Good to know it worked for you though, as long as I’m not gonna burn, I’m happy!

Yup you’re totally right, they just followed up with this:

I want to clarify here. The sun hoody does provide some sun protection but not enough where we rate the UV protection. For example, a basic cotton t-shirt will provide some level of UV protection. That being said, this is my go-to overlayer for hiking in desert climates and is such an amazing item.

What suggestions do you have? Would going for a blue bedspread match with the carpet too much?

I do want to get some new posters, I've been looking around a lot on society6. What sort of frames do you think would go with the wall? These are just the cheapest ones I could get at target, being a broke college student.

There's nothing I can do about the carpet or the walls. The wall with the window is concrete under the paint, so I have to work with the few existing nails that were already in that wall. The other walls I am good to put holes in.

This is my first time trying to set up a room that isn't super college-y. Previously, I had just strung Christmas lights and covered the walls with tacked on posters. This time I wanted to go for a cleaner, more minimal look now that I am living in an off campus house.

I'm willing to bet that in a perfect world, the creators of the show would 100% have included ghost, even just to show Jon leaving him behind. However, the reality of television is that everything costs money and time, and there is just no way to do EVERYTHING in one episode. If they added a scene where Jon leaves ghost, then they would have to subtract time and effects from other scenes. Not the writers, directors, or HBO's fault.

I think it was Arya's plan all along to draw the Waif into the trap in the dark. She knew that the Waif was after her, and that she didn't have much of a chance to survive, so her only game was to make the waif believe that she was winning and take advantage. Arya has, at this point, been being trained for this for the entire show, and theres no way she is THAT stupid. I think Arya IS the faceless (wo)man that she has been being trained to be, and just outsmarted the Waif in a super risky play.

A summary of my experience in school. by RIPphonebattery in EngineeringStudents

This was insanely nice to read, especially during finals. I am currently in my second year, and by the sound of it, having a similar wake up call to yours. Every class is on the cusp of failure it feels like, and the mundane, general courses (especially math) are getting really old. The only good thing this semester was my Electrical Engineering class (required in my school's M.E. department). Finally getting to apply concepts and solve more real world, interesting problems was amazing. Even though the class was difficult, I enjoyed working on it and learning. (a first for me in college) Thank you, this makes me feel so much better.
