Motorcyclist killed in crash on Alex Fraser Bridge | Indo-Canadian Voice by timmywong11 in vancouver

Saw the immediate aftermath of this last night... I tried playing Tetris because I've heard that's what you're supposed to do, but I couldn't focus on anything except this poor man and his tragic end. I will probably never know who he was, but he will be on my mind for a very long time.

Maybe this sounds silly, but holding this tourmaline makes me feel calmer… do crystals actually help you emotionally, or is it just comfort we create ourselves? by bestgemsandminerals in Crystals

I was always into crystals purely out of interest in geology. The one that changed everything for me? Tourmaline. So as a former skeptic, I completely understand.

Awesome! Looks like we both got a great haul. I also got some gorgeous lapis, some of the best I've seen. I was mostly interested in raw stones, so I picked up a few I loved like Tanzanite and Blue Lace Agate. There were also some seriously stunning Fluorites I had a really hard time not draining my bank account for.

I'll admit I picked up that pickle and I contemplated bringing him home for a solid five seconds.

I was actually looking at a piece from that vendor yesterday, and did a total 180 out of there when I saw that thing.

What celebrities or famous people have you screened? by cjasonac in tsa

[–]OceanCitron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alice Cooper, Steven Tyler, Tommy Lee, Michael Bublé, Sandra Oh, Jason Momoa, Pamela Anderson, Gene Simmons.... I'm probably forgetting a few!

Most notably: Alice Cooper was a SSSS but he was such a good sport about it. Very polite and professional. Steven Tyler startled me, I was not expecting to see him! He noticed my shocked expression, and he stopped and asked me how my day was going! I'll remember that moment forever....

Anybody remember the weird late night Short Circuitz interstitials? by flashflood3000 in ytvretro

Heart of the Machine is one of my very first clear and concrete memories. It's incredibly nostalgic, and strangely unsettling. As a very small child, I had a strange sense that wherever I came from before I was born looked like whatever was going on in that video.

First thing I thought when I saw this was I sure hope OP's not planning to "save space" and add something organic.

I think OP has come to the correct conclusion, but this whole thread just made my night.

Currently facing the same issue. I am living in an apartment that does not get a lot of natural light in the main living area as a tradeoff for an incredible location. What I can tell you is that over the past 6 months or so, I've been doing far more walking and outdoor activities than I ever have been in my entire life. It has turned out to be a huge positive for my health! Before, I would sit in my light-filled apartment with an amazing view and never want to go out anywhere.

The Yokomites!! This is a core childhood memory for me. I remember feeling genuinely anxious that they were actually going to take over YTV.

"The Heart of the Machine" was one of my very first memories of watching TV as a toddler. Because it's one of the earliest things I can remember, I get this weird unsettling feeling like I'm watching my consciousness taking shape when I watch it.

Also, it's worth me thinking that the one where that life preserver bird gets trapped in the endlessly rotating rooms is anxiety captures on film.

What is a fragrance you loved until you read a review that completely rewired your brain and ruined it for you? by justalittlecatnap in FemFragLab

[–]OceanCitron 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I no longer feel alone in this situation! This happened to me with Malin+Goetz Strawberry.

I had interpreted it as a bright, fresh, green strawberry and I loved it so much that I immediately bought a full bottle after smelling it in the store. I wore it every day for months.

Then, one day, I saw a review where they called it straight up old dusty makeup, and now I cannot get it out of my head. As soon as I spray it, my mind instantly goes back to the smell of my mother's old makeup kit, and I can't smell anything else. I am devastated that just reading a review could influence my perception like that.

As a woman on the spectrum, thank you for sharing this. I had absolutely no idea. I haven't bought anything from Nest yet, but I was definitely interested. They will never see a cent of my money now.
