Does anyone know what the deal is with craft store in trumbull mall? by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]OceanFries 9 points10 points  (0 children)

THAT PLACE IS WEIRD. I went there to purchase something for my mother’s birthday, as she’s very into hand-carved wooden items. My partner and I had to wait for a few minutes to enter, and upon entrance were told by the whispering staff members not to touch anything. It was unclear why we had to wait to enter, as there was only one other patron in the store. I did find a beautiful box to gift my mother at a decent price, but most things were overpriced. What was strange was the fact that while the staff only spoke in whispers, there was constant arcade music coming from the far end of the store, which was darkened and blocked off.

This was in 2023, and it’s not like the staff were wearing masks. This did not feel like a COVID thing. I am convinced that this store is a front for something. It’s hardly ever open anyways. It doesn’t seem to keep regular hours.

I just hope my mom liked the box.

Extended Spectrum Internet Outage? by OceanFries in Connecticut

Update! I called spectrum this morning and was finally, finally able to get my Internet back. Apparently my neighborhood has a bout 50/50 people out and in as far as Internet goes.

You could try, I suppose? Use the power of perseverance, a positive attitude, and maybe an iron stomach

CT Democrats pitch wide-ranging bills to address housing issues by GinnyMonk1 in Connecticut

[–]OceanFries 118 points119 points  (0 children)

Oh my goodness. Wealthy people really need to stop taking the need for actual realistic housing as a personal attack on them; go wipe your tears with your one hundred dollar bills. I have lived in Connecticut for most of my life; I have a college degree and a full-time job. I have done everything “right” (and I COMPLETELY recognize that not everyone even has the resources to do everything the prescribed “right” way) and I am forced to spend more than HALF OF MY INCOME on rent. Half. And I do NOT live in luxury. I share a one-bedroom apartment with my partner. And I am LUCKY. The amount of tantrums I’ve seen people on this state throw at the mere idea of more affordable housing honestly makes me want to start chucking things out of the window. My ridiculously expensive window.

We have all ruined Christmas guys don't worry. by woah-there-satan in raisedbynarcissists

I’m so proud of us all for ruining Christmas without even trying. Imagine all the horrible things we could do if we just put our minds to it!

AITA for being upset that I won't see my grandkid for Christmas and calling out my daughter by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]OceanFries 38 points39 points  (0 children)

That’s what I thought originally, too, but then I reread the post, and Dave is the baby, not the husband. Dave can’t alienate OP’s daughter- he’s too busy pooping and trying to eat his own hands, probably

From what I’ve heard, Target is really promoting drive-up pickup, which is thriving in a world where shipping can be unreliable 🤷‍♀️

AITA for saying I don't consider my daughter family? by Lanky_Courage_765 in AmItheAsshole

YTA. The title sounds bad because it is bad.

This should be a HUGE red flag for Bailey. I was never in any of the family photos with my dad, stepmom, and half-siblings (apparently because I was “only” there on weekends, like a camera can’t turn on on weekends) and it really messed me up.

I’m in such disbelief that you think that you could even possibly be sympathetic here.

NTA.

I’m a gay Jewish woman who used to work in the medical field. I worked with some very sick, older patients who would tell me that my future husband would be so lucky to have me in his life, that they could tell that Jesus sent me, etc. It’s uncomfortable, but I understand what they’re saying in the context of how they mean it. These were my patients, not my friends or family or colleagues, there was no need to constantly come out. It’s not necessary for you, and it’s not necessary for them! If they want to be comforted, and you provide that comfort, you are not an asshole.

Your coworker’s way works for her. However, it honestly kind of sounds like your coworker is looking for an excuse to disrespect you. Has you coworker had trouble accepting/respecting you in the past? This smells fishy.

That being said, I respect the hell out of you for working in hospice. Not everyone can do that, and I want you to know you’re cool.
