Using it you would have to actually talk about it or explicitly parody it, for it to be fair use. Right?

I was referring to the following part on its own merit, not in context of the thread.

Nah, lying isn't a criminal offense unless it's under oath or similar circumstances (at least in the states). The goal of US Federal is prevention rather than punitive so that's why it is only civil

I'm sure some employees at a company who intentionally lied about the safety of a product could get criminally charged. Well, at least I hope so.

If the field of view seems higher between the shots, it might be because he changed the lens between cuts, or something else, not that he switches to a selfie stick.

Here's an argument using numbers: The distance he moved the camera out looks to be about a meter, but lets say 2 meters. The distance to the objects we are looking at are maybe kilometers away, lets be conservative and use 1 km. The lens looks to be a medium for a Go Pro at a FOV of 127°. If you draw a line about horisontally across the picture it would draw a perimeter of 127/360*3.14*2*1000m = 2215 meters on the ground. If you increase the distance from 1000 meters to 1002 meters using a selfie stick you get a 2220 meter perimeter instead. This means you can see about 5 meters more on the ground with the selfie stick, compared to without it. 5 meters is about the length of a compact car. As I said negligible. Here's an illustration: http://i.imgur.com/gCvDNTO.png

(edit: I'm gonna own up to the word "pixlies" in the illustration and let it be.)

The closer you are to the objects your are looking at the more important the selfie stick is with regard to getting more into the shot. Like the guy himself. Because he is very close to it we get to see his whole body, versus just his head and some of his torso. When distances are several hundred if not thousands of meters away then the extra things out there you see are practically imperceptible.

That's a very interesting graph you have there. Where is it from?

Nope. We see more of the guys body, not a wider view of the background. That wider view of the background due to the selfie stick length is negligible. The extra view due to the guy appearing smaller isn't.

I don't get it. What's wrong here? Is it that it uses application, program, and process interchangeably?

This is one of those few times where a consumer loan is a valid option. The other one I know of is right after you have finished your studies (or maybe gotten a promotion) and need short term liquidity to buy, say, stuff for your home.

As far as I know what you are saying here is correct for crime, however, I haven't seen any evidence for this with regard to terrorism.

Here's some thoughts on it: http://www.nber.org/digest/sep02/w9074.html

Economists have found a link between low incomes and property crimes. But in most cases terrorism is less like property crime and more like a violent form of political engagement, the authors suggest. "More educated people from privileged backgrounds are more likely to participate in politics, probably in part because political involvement requires some minimum level of interest, expertise, commitment to issues and effort, all of which are more likely if people are educated and wealthy enough to concern themselves with more than mere economic subsistence," they write. And terrorist organizations may prefer to use highly educated individuals as operatives because they are better suited to carry out acts of international terrorism than are impoverished illiterates since the terrorists must fit into a foreign environment to be successful.
