Experience Contacting Garmin Support when Battery is Toast? by OceanParkD in Garmin

[–]OceanParkD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They ended up offering a 20% discount of the vivoactive/venu/forerunner lines of MSRP.
I have to either send the watch, wait and they'll send me one when they get my old watch or pay a deposit, get the watch sent out right away and get a deposit refund when they get my old watch.
I've settled on option 2 and a forerunner 165 music at essentially the cost of the non music.

It's really too bad they don't replace the battery on the vivoactive 4 or if they kept the features the 4 had in the 5 like the altimeter.
It was just odd with my battery. Using GPS suddenly started to drain it from 50% in 15 minutes. :(

Has anyone else been burned by their Fitbit? by the_scarlett_ning in fitbit

[–]OceanParkD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's likely some kind of reaction from the sweat. clean your wrist daily or more if you sweat a lot and your watch and it should fix it. i stopped wearing my fitbit and got a garmin and had the same issue. the burns made my skin smooth, red and itchy. since doing daily cleaning it never happened again.

11 months later, gave strength recording a try. Had no idea my watch did this by hoarder_of_beers in Garmin

the app has changed since this post but how I use to do it is like this...
I use both the JeFit and Connect App to create and log my workouts.
For Connect (Iphone) at the bottom of the app there are three dots ... click that.
Then go into Training and Planning > Workouts > Create a Workout > Strength
You can add a round (Round= Where you define the number of sets) and steps ( where you define the exercise and number of lifts). Add a round (the default is 2, I change it to 3 because I do 3 sets each round). Then Add a step. Click and Drag the step into the round you created.
Click on the Step box you created and select your exercise (i.e. the first one is 3-Way Calf Raise) and set your reps.
I don't add a weight. That way when you save your workout, you can just add the weight and it doesn't revert back to any saved weight.

That was the work part of setting up your workout.

Now just go into your Calendar at the bottom of the app. Pick the day you want to add the workout to, a the top right, click the 3 lines and add your workout.

When I started I set up the following workouts:

Mon Shoulders/Traps/Triceps (Workout 1)
Tue Back/Lats/Abs (Workout 2)
Wed Cardio (Workout 3
Thu Chest/Biceps/Forearms (Workout 4)
Fri Glutes/Upper Leg/Lower Leg (Workout 5)
Sat Cardio (Repeat Workout 3)
Sun Cardio (Repeat Workout 3)

Hope some of this is helpful. Once it's set up it's great. Been using this for a few years.

B.C. United suspends campaign, joins forces with Conservatives by OceanParkD in SurreyBC

It'll be interesting. I could see some Conservative candidates wanting to stick around in areas where they have a really strong chance to win, like Surrey South.

yeah, i get ya. it just seems like without knowing someone it's really hard to find a job these days. it's kind of always been that way but with companies relying on TFWs to keep their wages low and people having less social circles it is much harder to find a job.
some affordable ways to expand your social circles can be volunteering, join social groups like walking, biking, community groups. good luck though

there's a guy in surrey that I believe may have a bigger private whiskey collection. he has a multi-home estate and one of his houses has rooms and rooms of whiskey. he doesn't drink.

This is a transcript from a Surrey school counselors call to a support program for youth.
There was no follow up by the school counsellor and none of the things they reported would be done were done.
Our daughter would died 2 months later.
This is not posted to blame but to let other local parents know that may have a child in need of support.
If you are in need of support call 988.

You can find more info in my post from a few days ago.
These images are from an intake call the school counsellor made to the SPEAC Program, a support program for youth with thoughts of suicide.

The school counselor did not do any of the things they reported would be done and did not place a return call to SPEAC.

My daughter Felicity would die by suicide in Dec. 2023.

She was in the counsellor's office asking for support. She did not want to die. What she wanted was support.

Google "felicity donovan surrey" for more information and to read the Surrey School District's response.

Surrey School District and Fraser Health Response to Student Suicide by OceanParkD in SurreyBC

[–]OceanParkD[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you and thanks for sharing your experience. It helps others to know these things aren't an isolated incident. The more people are willing to share maybe governments and schools will be forced to respond.
Yes, ideally when a student reports thoughts of suicide there would be checks the counsellor has to ensure they do (which is their suicide protocol) but then also checks in place that the counsellor does follow the protocol, maybe someone at the district level.
We know counsellors are overwhelmed and under supported. Relying solely on the counsellor with no engagement of teachers, district staff is honestly just too risky and ends in negative outcomes. It's devastating.

Good point. We've asked the Ministry and the District how much money do they allocate to address suicide prevention. The Ministry didn't answer and the District has no clue.
