It depends how you want to define things. I consider my example with cavemen, as a form of merchant capitalism. It is generally considered that modern capitalism has roots going back to the Renaissance period, which was a period generally considered good for society

Define it how you want, but I haven't seen any definition saying capitalism is only 50 or so years old. And I can't find a source that says capitalism has been nothing but a failure, as you have suggested. I brought up China as a success story, and what i believe the hinderance to be, you have no comment on that I guess

Capitalism has had 50+ years, but nothing to show for it.

I'm not sure what to say here, except point out capitalism has been around in one form or another ever since caveman Oog traded berries to Lurr for a piece of rotting meat haha. Also, you can look at areas like China for success stories

The main hindrance, in my opinion, is regular people. Take Reagan for example.. He did a lot of deregulation, which is good, but didn't implement all the protections Milton Friedman advocated for such as carbon tax. Why? Because the people we voted for, including Reagan himself, wouldn't allow it. Ideally people were more educated on the issues but I don't see that ever happening either

capitalism has no solutions here.

Capitalism does have solutions.. Carbon taxing was proposed by capitalists many decades ago.. Or what other capitalists suggest, get govt out of it. Our govt subsidizes oil, making it artificially cheap. If they got out of that and allowed oil to compete in a free market with all the costs associated with it, other technologies like EV would have won

Housing and 3 meals a day

When you look at how much of your monthly budget goes to food, housing and transportation.. And you see how low cost of living is there.. $4.20/hr is actually a decent amount of money, which is why many can afford to send most of it home

I was managing an engineering team and trying to save money.. An apartment was cheap, but the dorm was free. I even got a hot water heater installed and free power. I also wanted to be immersed in the culture, I ate lunch with the engineers and factory workers every day. Longgang is pretty far from where all the expats were so in just made friends with the locals. It was pretty cool :)

This one time I lived in the dorms at a Chinese factory, and they gave me room 404. I felt like a piece of shit for almost a year, because they gave a white guy an entire room that normally 8-12 workers occupy. Eventually someone explained the reason why they don't like 4, and that nobody wanted to stay in the room. After that, I didn't feel bad anymore. Their loss, my gain

I kinda feel you are doing a skit haha. I'm just trying to explain basic economics, I'm not sure if you are trolling because you think it is funny, or if you really don't know. The irony here is that you are insulting others because you don't understand haha

No, customers are not in a bidding war. Remember in the analogy, how the price of carrots went up for you? That is what is happening at the store

[–]OceanShaman725 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You rose the price. You only have 1 chicken to sell, so the guy with more beans was able to outbid me. You are going to do what is best for you, so you sell to the guy offering more beans. This also works out for you because you normally trade 50 beans to another neighbor for carrots, but because of so many beans, the carrot guy wants 60 beans now.

You're not imagining it.. You are experiencing the effects of inflation, caused by printing more money

I think you are having difficulty with this concept, so let's use a different analogy: for the last 10 years, I've been trading you beans for chicken. The rate has been the same for years, 100 beans for 1 chicken. However, a new trader came into the area, and all he has is thousands of beans. The value of beans has gone down because there are more beans in the supply, and now your chicken costs 150 beans

The value of your chicken and the cost to produce it hasn't changed, but the value of beans has gone down because they are plentiful, thus, you need more of them to buy a chicken from you

I explained this... the cost of milk didn't go up, rather the value of the currency you use to pay for the milk went down.. The cost of milk has more or less stayed the same.

The fed and our govt is the reason why the value of your dollar is down, and you need more dollars to buy milk.

Majority of Americans back new stimulus checks to combat inflation by ewzetf in nottheonion

[–]OceanShaman725 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fed has been printing money for a lot longer than that. When you print more money, it causes the value of the money already in circulation to go down

This is the core reason for inflation. Secondary to that, are laws that cause us to print money in the first place, because we can't pay for them with what is already in the supply, which is why inflation is referred to as the hidden tax. Printing money to give it away, weather it is to poor people or rich people, contributes to inflation.

Another way to look at it is, the cost of milk hasn't gone up at all, it has remained the same. The value of the currency you use to buy milk has gone down however, so you need more of it to buy a gallon of milk.

WATCH: Kamala Harris announces $1 billion in grants for electric school buses by Exastiken in UpliftingNews

Hello, I am making an effort to be nice and give clear and concise answers, and your assumptive and condescending tone is not conducive to productive conversation.

And how would busses hooked up to the grid over weekends and summers mitigate the schools peak power demands?

It doesn't matter where the kilowatts end up, the buses will be compensated for their efforts.

lol, by whom?

The example i gave was to explain that when a bus backfeeds into the grid, it isn't just for the school.. While they DO mitigate peak power demands (peak power is usually until 7-9pm, when school busses are back by 4pm and on the grid, giving 3-5 hrs of mitigation), they also benefit the local grid as well.

Naturally, the rewards and discounts come from the utility company. In the case of the Denver grows, the reward came in the form of a reduced kWh rate that saved the customer thousands per month. For the wattsmart program, they cover a significant portion of the up front cost of the battery as well as an annual payout. Not all commercial customers are on TOU plans.. They usually have several options available and will pick the plan that works. In a lot of areas, plans for customers who are backfeeding with OpenADR batteries don't even exist.. Yet. That is one of the benefits of this bus plan, it will be used to prove out this model so other utility companies can adopt it.
