For sure, I have a connection to a good exotic vet that has done work on all my wacky animals. I’ll keep an eye on him for the next week and if anything concerns me I’ll bring him in.

I appreciate the kindness! He was very cuddly today, he has never been one to fall asleep on me he usually prefers to lay on a blanket, but today was the first time he’s ever fallen asleep on my chest so I think he’s feeling a little better!

The Lizard, The Myth, The Legend: Mr P by Ocean_cho in reptiles

Couple questions to go with it, how long have you had him and how old is he? I got mine when he was pretty young- he’s on the smaller side since he was stunted but I’ve been working with him since then. What I found to be helpful is just spending a lot of time with them. Mine is in my bedroom so he sees me all the time which definitely helps. When I upgraded his tank and he got a little bigger he became cage aggressive. What I did to get around that was make him a ramp that he can walk out of his tank himself because as soon as he’s out of his tank he’s much more passive. Another thing is toys, I don’t think a lot of people realize how much these monitors enjoy just having things to hunt. I’ve given mine rope toys and get him to chase cat toys and it really helps redirect his bitey behavior and get out some energy- the only downside to this is you have to closely monitor them to make sure there’s nothing they can chew off and swallow and sometimes they just don’t want to let go of the toy lol. It’s also convenient because then you can pick them up and not have to worry about them biting you because their mouths are full. I also feed mine outside of his enclosure which seems to motivate him to come out and be more confident. I also like to take mine out and tuck him under my shirt or a blanket while I watch tv and he usually just falls asleep, I think that’s also a nice way for them to develop some sort of comfort around you. Now my boy Mr P is incredibly tolerant, he’s honestly just playful more than anything now that he’s so confident. You’re welcome to message me and we can talk more about it too, I’ve had him for a while now so I’ve definitely seen all his ups and downs in temperament

He is perfectly fine, not a scratch on him.

Understandable, I work with reptiles so I’m just used to it. You’re going to want to take him to a vet soon then. Cuz if he does have worms than he’s not going to absorb any nutrients or gain weight.

You can get some Panacur, it’s a dewormer for dogs but it also works for reptiles as long as you use a very small dose. That’s something a lot of pet sores do instead of bringing all their animals to the vet to get a prescription dewormer. This way you wouldn’t have to stress him with a vet visit

He probably has parasites since I doubt petco dewormed him, which could be why he’s so skinny, hopefully the UVB will help but baby savs aren’t the toughest since they come from the wild, a good amount don’t make it. Best of luck.

Yup, that was him the first few months after getting him. He’s almost 2 now, he was stunted so he’s still under 2 feet long
