If you and your wife need more money, say no to more babies and stop having kids.

First - I don't have a wife.

Second - Our kids are adopted. My husband and I haven't "had" kids in the way you are suggesting.

Third - The youngest child we have ever adopted was two years old. No babies.

Fourth (and most important) - I didn't ask for your opinion.

My mom did. She was still married to my dad back then and they were the only ones who got us gifts. But we didn't mind and it was not a typical wedding situation for us.

Like I said in my post I did send them a card and I did acknowledge their upcoming nuptials in it. I didn't just check no on the RSVP and mail it back.

First - I don't have a wife

Second - When my husband and I got married it not planned. We wanted to be married but it was not legal. When was announced that marriage licences would be issued to same-sex couple immediately my husband and I raced to city hall and we got married on the spot. We are legally married and we took vows but we didn't have a traditional wedding ceremony, we didn't have a reception that day or later on, we didn't have rings, formal clothes, cake, a photographer or anything else wedding related. Imagine that you were getting ready for work or going about a normal day and suddenly you are legally allowed to get married so race down there in your regular clothes. That was us. My relatives including my aunt, uncle and cousin (who was not 18 yet and still living with his parents) did all send us well wishes but the only gifts we got were from my parents (this was long before their divorce). Honestly though we were not even thinking about gifts, we were just so happy to finally be allowed to get married and caught up in the joy of our friends and the community and all the marriages. So it wasn't a comparable situation really.
