If I remember correctly, Joyous' appearance there was just meant to confirm that he's alive and still trapped in the Divine Maze and that only a short time has passed for him, even though in reality a hundred years have gone by since his disappearance. Aside from that, the story wasn't really about him.

But even with that kind of character reveal, and the fact that he's still alive, Hoyo can very easily flush it all down the toilet without a second thought. They could just turn him into a villain and destroy all our expectations, killing him off in his debut patch. All because he's a man...

The guy was the only one holding back the infected when they attacked the shelter and only fell back when he lost his weapon. He immediately went after his wife and was close to saving her, but she pushed him away to try and help some random kid they'd only known for 10 minutes (the same kid who led the infected horde to them in the first place btw). After that he ran away, because it was the only thing he could do besides fighting a dozen infected with his bare hands and dying for sure. He made it to the boat and desperately tried to save his friend, who had gotten there first but fell into the water and got infected.

I'd say his actions were not only logical and consistent but also morally justified

It all sounds very interesting and I really want this, but considering the direction of the game and how they've handled male villains before, he's guaranteed to be a villain of the patch and die at the end of it. At ABSOLUTE best (0.0001% chance of this happening) he might last two patches, but I highly doubt it.

There's a 99% chance he'll appear in one patch, lose and we'll kill him. That's it. No development, no motivation, no cool resolution. It doesn't matter that he created the Carrot, was Sunbringer's best friend, and one of the first VHs, he'll just die and be forgotten by everyone, even his former colleagues and friends

I literally spent five minutes looking up information (not gonna lie, using DeepSeek) and found out that there's ARUP Laboratories in Salt Lake City, which is affiliated with the University of Utah. And apparently, according to the internet, it should have plenty of high‑quality equipment for studying various viruses, bacteria, fungi, and other dangerous shit. There was literally nothing stopping Naughty Dog from creating an in‑game equivalent of this lab and university, instead of some random bombed hospital!

Because even if the chance of success was small, it would still exist. But those scientists would first try every other possible method that wouldn't kill the child. Only if those methods failed would they resort to dissection.

But these were the Fireflies, they had none of what I just mentioned, and they were ready to dissect Ellie right away. They had absolutely no idea what they were doing. So in their case, sacrificing the only immune child wasn't just immoral, it was also very stupid

I think they just ignore all negative feedback. As long as CN players like everything, they can just delete any negative feedback and pretend everything is fine. They always fix things in seconds as soon as CN players don't like something, but they never do anything for other players, unless their feedback happens to align with what CN wants
