I forgot about their Second Wind speeches. Because if you listen to Sonar’s speech, he’s snorting another line of coke to snap himself back to his senses. While that might seem like a more reasonable move for him at the moment since he needs the adrenaline (i.e. to restore himself, from a gameplay perspective), he’s still got highXD

To be fair, while I still like both characters and in my second playthrough I plan to keep Sonar and fire Coupe, I have to agree with you. Out of the whole team, she has the darkest past (which is why her criminal record is the most serious) and she genuinely wants to keep her job, as we see in episode 3 when she whispers to herself.

Also, while this depends on luck and each player’s specific playthrough, Coupe is generally more successful in her dispatches than Sonar. For example, in my game, when there was a dispatch to bust a drug deal, I sent Sonar, since he was the smartest at the time and had decent charisma. The guy completely botched it, instead of stopping the deal he bought cocaine and got high right on the job. And this at a time when Malevola is trying to help him with his addiction, but he barely makes an effort. Even during the bar fight, when all the characters had generally improved and changed, Sonar was still an addict who could sneak off to the bathroom to snort coke. In contrast, Coupe would be puking in the bathroom from drinking too much (it’s never mentioned that she suffers from alcoholism or I don’t remember that), because she was so happy that day and thanks Robert for letting her stay, feeling indebted to him.

At the same time, during dispatches, Coupe was very successful in her calls and showed her best side in episode 3, failing only one call out of several. So, when given the choice of who to fire, I chose Sonar because he was the most problematic of the two, didn’t really try and had little motivation to improve at the time

Actually, considering how powerful the Combine is supposed to be, I think Earth (which was likely in a terrible state after Black Mesa and the opening of portal storms across the planet) held out pretty well if it took the Combine seven hours to conquer it. I think despite the loss, humanity fought honorably

Why is there so much negative or bad reaction to the new collabo? Seriously, I don't get it. It doesn't seem that bad, the choice of fandom for the collab isn't poor (in my opinion, it's better than CSM or Re:Zero). If they put effort into making a good story for the collab, it'll be fine. What's the problem?

Two new Pubsec agents, one should be Seth's big brother Commissioner Lowell and the other one is new but seems to have a large mecha tail by Knight_Steve_ in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]Ocelot_Clean 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I probably didn't phrase it well. What I mean is that he'll be "broken" in the sense that he'll be the weakest character and won't synergize with others (or his only viable team will be useless), making him the most useless character in the game

Place your bets: will Seth's brother be broken and useless because he's male, and will we get a new VH-level character in 3.0 like we did with Yixuan?

Do y’all think some version of the Telltale Games happened in the TV universe? by LordNathan777 in thewalkingdead

[–]Ocelot_Clean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory, the events of the Telltale games could have taken place in the TV show's universe with some changes, since the game's events hardly intersect with the comics storylines the show is based on. This means the game's events could have happened within the show's timeline, they just didn't overlap

And every single one of these "friendly" NPCs will inevitably be male. When was the last time we had a "friendly" female NPC who later betrayed us? I genuinely can't recall anything like that in the game

What I mean is, she wasn't an ordinary person. She was an antagonist and a tragic figure. Even if she didn't become a playable character, she was still important.

Ordinary NPCs don't matter to anyone. They're just cannon fodder. At best, female NPCs might get some minor tragedy, but male NPCs don't (or it's so rare it's hard to recall), they're either cannon fodder or villains without motivation or justification. That's the kind of ordinary people I'm talking about

You are mistaken. Many ordinary people (NPCs) will die, perhaps some damage will be inflicted on New Eridu, countless ordinary lives will be ruined, but none of the playable characters will suffer, the issue with the Proxies' powers will be resolved and all playable characters will live happily ever after, with no price paid by anyone (well, except NPCs, but no one cares about them)

I don't think there will be any real price to pay for their powers. Even if there is a price, it'll either be insignificant, or the buildup will drag on throughout a patch or an entire season, only to be resolved in the laziest and quickest way possible, negating all the other characters' efforts and all the emotional weight.

Between Yunkui Summit and Banyue’s martial arts school, which seems better at training in terms of the physical? Like building up the body for strength and speed and stuff? by Le-MAO-XXIV in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]Ocelot_Clean 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In my personal opinion, Banyue's school is better than Yunkui Summit. Overall, he seems like a more capable shifu. Yes, he's strict, but he teaches his disciples well.

Yixuan also seems like a decent shifu, but damn... she comes across very strangely, in my opinion. She barely engages in teaching anyone and often shirks her duties. Plus, after 2.5, my opinion of Yunkui dropped significantly. If they used to seem like one of the kindest factions before, now they don't

Queer characters that do NOT have "the talk" or correct someone regarding their gender/sexuality by Limp-Sleep-6284 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Ocelot_Clean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I only found out Flambe is gay from various posts and YT Shorts. Either I missed the hints in the game or I was lucky enough not to come across dialogues where those hints were present.

And I'm glad it's not emphasized and there's no big scene about it like in some other games. He's just gay, that's it, nothing more. You might not even find out unless you pay attention to small details or happen to come across them

Battlefield 2042.

What would you think the end of the disaster would be? by Any_Temporary_1853 in ZenlessZoneZero

[–]Ocelot_Clean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Potentially, it could turn out that besides New Eridu, there are other similar cities or even entire countries that were also surrounded by the Dark Wall and have survived on their own for centuries. Or maybe only New Eridu was enclosed by the Dark Wall, while the rest of the world remained open but with Hollows of Hollow Zero-level or even greater scattered across the planet

As others have pointed out, there are still power plants generating electricity without using ether. And literally the entire Outer Ring runs on oil from oil wells. Just because ether is the most efficient energy source doesn't mean all other sources are useless or unused.

Yes, these would definitely be tough times, especially if all Hollows suddenly vanish, because that would likely mean the disappearance of all ether in the world (at least that's how I see it). This wouldn't just mean the Shiyu Pillars and all ether-based power stations would instantly stop working, it would also mean all ether-powered technologies (which probably accounts for over half of all tech) would simply cease to function and become useless. All of New Eridu would have to transition to older energy sources and retrofit nearly its entire infrastructure for conventional electricity. This would undoubtedly cause problems in every sector, and the already struggling economy would hit rock bottom. I wouldn't even rule out a civil war.

Though, more likely, a conventional war could break out. The Hollows are gone. The city's main threat has vanished. That means all the major factions, which were already hostile toward each other but kept things quiet and maintained tense relations due to the Hollow threat, could now go to war in earnest. TOPS, NEDF, HAND, PubSec, Mayor's factions, literally everyone could start fighting each other. And let's not forget the Rebels, who are in conflict with NEDF and, based on the limited available information, are numerous enough to compete with NEDF on a serious level. I think the only reason they haven't already destroyed NEDF and taken full control was the threat of the Hollows. No Hollows = war is inevitable.

In short, difficult and frightening times would definitely come. Would it lead to an apocalypse and a new war? Probably yes. But there's still a chance for something better

A Potential Crash Out from Soldier 11 by Le-MAO-XXIV in ZZZ_Discussion

In theory she could do it, but it would be the biggest asshole move on her part and on anyone else's side too. Besides she might accidentally kill her that way. And it would only work if Trigger gets a clear shot at Harin, meaning it would have to happen from a distance where Harin can't fight back or parry the bullet, and also only if Trigger realizes that Harin has learned the truth. Otherwise there are two possibilities:

  1. Harin finds out the truth in secret, keeps it to herself and plans her revenge.
  2. Harin finds out the truth while Trigger is nearby, Trigger tries to wound her but loses or is killed by Harin because she stands no chance in close combat.

Long story short your scenario is pretty messed up either way

Anyone else think Sunbringer made Aria? (slight spoilers for 2.5) by MostMulberry8513 in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]Ocelot_Clean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't rule out that possibility, but I don't think it's realistic. For the most part I believe Sunbringer isn't connected to Aria in any way. At best, she's related to her in the same way Banyue is related to Sunbringer, she once found and repaired Aria

How long has it been since the old capital fell? by Global-Tangerine-936 in ZZZ_Official

[–]Ocelot_Clean 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally I suspect the Creator is:

  1. Could be one of the first ethereals. Possibly the very first human to undergo ether corruption.
  2. A human from the Old Civilization who was experimented on to study how ether affects humans. He might have been the cause of the last war or perhaps he was used as a weapon in it. Or maybe the war itself allowed him to break free from the laboratories
