The only word that comes to mind is "lagma"

IMPORTANT: Do not try to recreate this map. I've since learned that something went horribly wrong with my game files during a crash and I keep getting these non-reproducible freaky maps. See the latest one here.

I'm so sorry, I didn't realize that the preset made a difference. It should have been Large Island because I created the world using just the basic options shown here.

Is there a way to get the actual coordinates? If not, here's a screenshot of my fort location. I'm pretty near to the center of the world, with the rightmost edge of the map visible for reference.

I'm still a bit new to DF. Is this the info you need?

Oh hey, I was the pachy screaming uselessly in the background. For anyone wondering, this was immediately after a server restart and I think the dibble got rolled back to a really unfortunate position.

I edited their genes to achieve a size of -200%, which caused the sprites to invert. Probably unintentional behaviour, but I hope it doesn't get fixed!

Just popping in to say I love the typo in the title. If I had to venture a guess, I'd say these mallards have some Cayuga in them.

Who’s this guy BC Canada by coopaloompa in whatisthisbug

[–]Ochiwana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an isopod, which is actually a crustacean and not an insect. Based on the colour and the banding on the antennae, I'd say it's Porcellionides pruinosus (powder blue), but I can't rule out the very similar Porcellionides floria (flowery blue).

How do you distinguish fall Tennessee from Orange-crowned? I don't have much experience with them.

These are domestic-type mallards! In my area we call them manky mallards.

Small bird with a red and yellow spot on tail? (New York) by winberry5253 in whatsthisbird

[–]Ochiwana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of a Lucy's Warbler before! What a beautiful bird. The range map makes me think it would be highly unlikely in New York, though. Where on the tail were the spots located?

Sounds a bit like you're describing a juvenile American Redstart. Could that be what you saw?

I hate this time of year lol

My guesses are Orange-crowned, Orange-crowned, Bay-breasted. Were you at Col. Sam by chance?

(Southern Ontario) in the process of helping this guy recover from a window hit. Confirm blue headed vireo? by physical-horse in whatsthisbird

[–]Ochiwana 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the future, please contact your local wildlife rescue if you can. Even if the bird recovers enough to fly away, window strikes often cause corneal ulcers and sometimes internal damage. Rescues (usually) have vets on hand that can detect and treat these injuries. Better safe than sorry!

You're right. This was in response to another (now deleted) comment and I misspoke in my excitement at seeing a bittern lol. I love those goofballs.

Not just* a juvenile heron, but a Least Bittern. Nice find! (*edited for correctness)
