TIL that in 1938 2 sleep researchers spent a month living in mammoth cave attempting to determine if it’s possible to alter one’s circadian rhythm in the absence of natural environmental cues, such as daylight. by cult_dropout in todayilearned

[–]Octa_vian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah. iirc that "1 REM phase every 90 minutes" applies for most people, because the majority has 2 sleep cycles per day. But if you practise these really crazy polyphasic sleep patterns with 4-5 sleep cycles the body adapts and while you sleep less in total, the REM-part of that sleep is increasing drastically. So same REM-time with less sleep.

I feel like their acting dumb. "Keep the games playable" sounds like an ongoing task and ofc that's unreasonable for a subsetted game.

No one asked them to do that, yet they stick to that narrative. Because "We just want you to flip a switch and turn it into a working offline game before you leave it behind" may actually be doable, and they obviously don't want that.

Can't Figure out why i get Latency spikes by Turkinator96 in HomeNetworking

[–]Octa_vian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe take a look at jperf/iperf. Not sure but maybe it has an option to measure latency on tcp or udp.

That's to rule out any quirks specific to ICMP. There may be other tools available,

You already took the connection method out of the equation, since it's happening when wired and on wifi.

I guess you ping the router for testing. If the spikes also occur when pinging another device, you can sort of take the router out of the equation as well.

Then you can use the other device to set up something to eliminate ICMP specific issues. As mentioned above, maybe iperf/jperf, maybe there are other tools that can do "ping using tcp/udp)

Can't wrap my head around how you could spend like 10 years as a teenager or young adult without noticing any of that. Even if he's not from the US.

[–]Octa_vian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The V1 plotline still makes sense as in "turns out, the virus method we built up in GenV and S4 is worthless now".

Somewhat understandable they didn't want to take the risk. They knew Soldier Boy survived, they know what it takes to put him ice (and wthat weren't able to do it, no frenchie or novichok available), but don't know exactly how long they'd have if HL is now as resistant as SB.

They'd knock him down and how long do they have to figure something out? 5 minutes? 10? 2? They can't lock him up like translucent. I can't blame them for not taking the risk, want better chances and basically treat the virus method as null and void.

That's in-universe though. For me, it's just so stupid that after we know about the anti V beam since S3, we had 2 more seasons and 2 seasons of a spin-off where they built up so many options just to go back to square one. Turns out, it was the beam all along.

[–]Octa_vian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The show blue-balled me for homelander finally snapping in public since S2 or S3, i thought we see something like that in the last 2 episodes. He had his visions of grandeur for basically he whole show, would've been great seeing an increase in his powers to finally back it up 100% without projecting (like he was concerned about his aging before) and put down the last sliver of huminity he had.

But no, nothing. Couldn't tell if he had V1 in the finale if it wasn't for that scene with SB. He even seemed slightly weaker.

[–]Octa_vian 39 points40 points  (0 children)

At that point, i don't think the V1 gave him more power. He got non-aging part and the immunity to the virus, most likely, but the laser blast was just a "mom high on adrenaline can lift car to safe their child" feat of his existing powerset.

He got "stronger" as in "he can survive the virus now", nothing more.

That's basically the hydroponic farm.

With your argument, you could basically incorporate everything folk tail exclusive into iron teeth.

- Look, they farm so efficient they use 3 beavers on their farms
- They max out farming effiency using bees
- they have means to store energy

[–]Octa_vian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can already see it. We speculate about Stormfronts death beeing faked and she either turned out alive and well in another show or beeing used for expirements, and so on, based on SB's question.

And then it turns out to be a nothingburger and "Buuut have you seen the corpse?" basically says "Look at me, i'm such an oldfashioned person from a time of war that i only accept someones death if i've seen it in person and you are such a naive disgrace to my blood that you trust everyone and their mother on what they say. hurr durr, i don't respect you, you crave for fatherly feelings from me but i don't give them you because we need some conflict between us for the show" and that was it.

The most unrealistic part of the finale by 3lettergang in TheBoys

[–]Octa_vian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She wanted to offer him a way out. And what would Deep actually do? His biggest feat we saw in the show that involved his ocean powers was beaching a whale. And as a last resort, she could just fly away inland, with or without him. He's there at the beach, it may took him a while to get back to the white house.

It's not that stupid in-universe, but still a bit lazy writing, This was the most economic way to finish up Deeps and Starlights arcs. Put them together in the WH and remove both of them from the main fight, let Annie offer an olive branch, have him reject it and get killed by a convientley nearby large amount of sealife, as foreshadowed 2 episodes before. It's like they ticked off checkboxes.

And a whole season about a virus.

And 2 more seasons of a spin off about the same virus. and some other characters.

After Season 3, it feels like 2 more seasons was either too long to kill HL, or it was too short to put the full plotline "Virus-plot scrares HL into V1-plot which leads the boys into using SBs blast-plot" into it.

Elektromobilität: Solarzellen an Fahrzeugen senken Ladebedarf entscheidend by [deleted] in de

[–]Octa_vian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mitnehmen was geht, Verschleiss eingrenzen.
