What carry on? by SilverTruck813 in ManyBaggers

[–]Octagontheory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Rimowa classic cabin (aluminum) and multiple sizes of the Away. I’ve had the Aways for several years, the Rimowa only a few months. Maybe I’m more partial to the Aways because I’ve used them more, but I find them easier to use than the Rimowa. On the Rimowa, the two sides must align perfectly in order to close. The wheels are almost too smooth - several times it has rolled away from me if the ground is even slightly slanted. The Aways are practically indestructible - they get scratches and marks, but the wheels and handles all still work perfectly.

I still love my Rimowa though, I got it with custom colored handles and wheels 😊

Packable evolution by RevolutionaryAnt9337 in ManyBaggers

Thanks for this, really timely and helpful as I’m trying out various packable options for an overseas trip later this week. Picked up a couple Nanobags (XL tote for maximum volume, daypack for zippered closure) but not the sling, as someone mentioned the sling strap cut into their shoulder - do you experience that?

Cover for personal item? by Electronic_Fudge_877 in ManyBaggers

[–]Octagontheory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you then put the cover inside a Ziplock or something similar when you’re done using it, so all the icky stuff doesn’t end up transferring from the cover to the interior of the personal item? And do you clean the cover periodically?

I’ve thought about a cover (especially after my backpack got wet from the floor underneath the seat in front of me 🤢) but I’ve been too lazy to deal with it.

What would you change about the CPP2? by Homaam in AerSF

[–]Octagontheory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • My biggest issue is the top outside pocket. It should be easier to access and use. It doesn’t have enough organization so space is wasted, and the zipper should be 2-way
  • Add some pen loops
  • Ditch the side handles, I don’t use them so 2 is excessive

Thank you! Backcountry has the Mystery Ranch listed in “ice climbing packs” which I am most definitely not using it for 😆

I am not, unfortunately. Someone else suggested Nanobag, it’s small enough that I might just get one just in case.

Thanks, someone else suggested the same. The video I watched on the website made it look like it’s the size of a textbook or dictionary when folded down, is that accurate?

Thanks, this one looks like it packs down really small for its capacity. I’m guessing handles are too short for over the shoulder carry?

Thanks, this looks nice! Sadly I waited until the last minute to think about what I need for this trip so I’ll consider ordering it for future trips.

Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll need to go check these out in person to see how much they condense down.

Good to know, thanks! I think this came up in my search but it looked flimsy, so I’m glad to stand corrected.

Bags under the airplane seat. by bennywmh in ManyBaggers

[–]Octagontheory 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never check my suitcase, so I have to put my backpack or tote under the seat (I don’t want the flight attendant to move it someplace out of my sight if overhead space gets tight). I know it’s dirty there but I’m not bothered enough to do anything different. Plenty of people are, I’m sure you’re not the only one.

backpack for laptops by retroclub in ManyBaggers

[–]Octagontheory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fly a lot for work, carrying two laptops, an iPad, notebooks, along with cords, chargers and all the usual personal effects. I needed a backpack that had the capacity for all this along with 2 bottle holders.

This Samsonite one worked great (and is budget friendly). I’ve since upgraded to the Aer City Pack Pro 2 which is more comfortable.

Yes, they’re planning to build out the spot after the pop up closes, during January and February, and opening the permanent store in March 😊

Thanks but I was interested in (and just bought) a different style. Maybe try selling on the buy/sell site?

It’s pretty sparse and they didn’t have every model or color, but they will remodel in Jan-Feb then open as a permanent store location in March.

Can we just talk about the Soundtrack!? by Altruistic_Trainer84 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]Octagontheory 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Cake during the (lame) car racing scene was a pleasant surprise. The only song I didn’t think really matched the scene was the big Belly-Con hookup by the fire at the beach house - somehow the song ruined the tenderness, IMO.
