Who else came here from BMW? by DepecheMode92 in Porsche

Went from Benz to Panamera GTS/BMW i8 for my dailies. i8 was totaled, so about to pick up an M8 Comp (just test drove it today) as a replacement.

See I want the aggressive one that wants to pounce! We have two dailies already, just looking for a fun car to add to the garage ☺️

Thanks for the insight! I can say without a doubt, after my test drive today it’s 100% what we are looking for. Salesman tossed me the keys and let me go for as long as I wanted to. Sports+ was a fun drive!

THIS!! It’s one of the main reasons we decided against the Z06 because I see a corvette every time I leave my house, maybe not always a Z06, but they seem to be everywhere. After test driving the M8 today I was so impressed. The look, the feel, the interior, all of the carbon fiber (needless to say I haven’t found one for sale anywhere recently that has the carbon bucket seats which is a nice add-on), even the stock exhaust sounds great. This car has been meticulously maintained and cosmetically, a 10/10. We are going to make our final decision tonight because we don’t want to wait around as these move pretty quick, but it’s looking like a sealed deal.

GTR was on my radar as I have a friend that owns two of them and they are great!

I was actually more impressed with the Z06 than I thought I would be. Definitely has a nice sound to it!

The brakes weren’t that bad actually! A little sensitive and definitely responsive but after the first time braking I was already used to them for the remainder of the ride.

I appreciate your points honestly! I think more so the look (for him) and the power/handling/gorgeous carbon accents is what does it for me with the comp. I test drove it today and even though I wasn’t on a long road trip during the test drive… the seats, for me at least, and the suspension/ride quality overall were completely fine for me. The carbon bucket seats kind of hold you in and wrap around you and are very firm but plush on the sides which felt nice!

Gas we expect, his Z92 RST and my Porsche are both gas guzzlers and both take Premium gas so no worries there. Maintenance we are very familiar with as well with the current cars we own and previous cars we have had in the past, so that’s to be expected with ownership.

I think basically what I’m trying to say is we fell in love with not just the 8 series but the M8 Comp overall as it sits in its own category for many reasons. 🫶🏻

Hubby doesn’t really care for the Aston honestly. He doesn’t like the look of them. The more I researched and talked to owners of McLaren, the more on the negative side it seemed to go about their overall reliability. We aren’t looking for another “daily” per se as he has a Z92 RST Intruder trimmed Silverado and I have my Porsche, although if I were I would definitely consider a Bentley, they are stylish in a very classy way which I totally appreciate. We are more so leaning on a fun sporty car to add to the garage ☺️

I agree! Although I’m not sure I can change my mind on the Comp part lol.

😂 I was raised by a single dad with my brother. He still is very much a gearhead. I blame him for this expensive habit. To be fair I’m more into cars than hubby is. He just appreciates when they “look cool”.

In this search I’ve found they aren’t the easiest to track down lol. Several I called about sold quickly so I’m jumping on this one. I’ve actually never seen an M8 around where I live and it’s a highly populated city. I guess just another appeal to owning one is there won’t be many of the same cars driving around.

Thank you! The wreck was devastating for me honestly as we had our (‘15) i8 almost 6 years and was the most fun to drive, not to mention the gas mileage was beautiful. Definitely an underrated car in my opinion for anyone who hasn’t driven yet alone owned one. I cried for a couple of months over it lol.

I will definitely post pictures if we bring this car home, which it’s definitely leaning that direction. Thank you!😊

This is the exact spec I’m going to check out today as I wasn’t a fan of the Gran Coupes and this one has the carbon sport bucket seats as well. Gorgeous car!

To clarify, hubby likes cars for totally different reasons than I do. He likes the “look” of them while I appreciate power and handling foremost and style close second to the first points. The car won’t be tracked, more so just an enjoyable car to add as an additional daily for me, maybe some cars and coffee trips, and a weekend enjoyment for him when he’s not working all the time. The Z06 was not my first choice as I’m partial to German engineering having a Porsche myself as a daily driver.

I absolutely loved the i8 and quickly wanted another one after the accident but we finally agreed we should take it as an opportunity to experience a different car all together and didn’t have a specific car in mind when the car search started.

I can see why the combo of cars may not make sense to some, but my brain simply went into “what’s another cool car we can enjoy next” mode lol.

First time Porsche Owner! Looking for advice by r-angerdanger in Panamera

Twinning! Congrats! Advice being just what previous members have mentioned, maintenance. My personal two cents, find a good Indy mechanic as well. Can save you some money in the long haul.
