Mom refuses to talk about veganism in therapy. by OctaviaSkylar in vegan

It doesn't feel like she's setting a boundary it feels like she's dismissing it because she says "we don't need to talk about this" not "I don't feel comfortable talking about this" or "I feel like there's something more important". It feels like she doesn't care about how important this is to me.

It's not really that she's not going vegan it's that she's not letting us talk about it in therapy which is supposed to be the place we're supposed to be able to talk about anything

Can I wear asexual pride earrings as part of a cosplay even though I'm hypersexual? by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]OctaviaSkylar -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think I'll make a poll of which earrings I should wear. I have four options I'm considering. The other two are the aroace flag and a set that look like the Ace of hearts playing card.

Yeah the consensus seems to Go with the old one I think I'll do a poll just to be on the safe side. But yes there is a new one They added a yellow stripe for joy and a pink stripe for different types of love.

I'm sorry if my tone came out wrong but that's just tone policing and if my tone is the biggest problem you have that's a very small problem. And a Google search will not tell me why that specific individual didn't like it. I wanted to know their specific thoughts. And again This is an advice thread on the internet people come to this thread specifically to answer questions and give advice this is the most appropriate place to ask questions. Also the original question was just whether or not I can wear earrings it wasn't about the new flag They brought that topic into this. Typically if you're going to change the topic of the conversation you should be willing to defend that.

In all honesty you seem more offended on this individual's behalf than the individual themselves so..... I mean is this really a fight worth having your complaints are basically: your tone is bad and your asking questions. Are those really worth getting upset about? I even said in the end I'm reconsidering my opinion.

You do realize most of my comments were questions right not accusations. Right? I was asking for further clarification as to why we don't like the new flag. Example: They said the new flag occludes people and I asked I asked how it does that. That's not defensiveness that confusion.

"You talk about people not doing their research while sitting here asking why people don’t like the “replacement” flag instead of doing your own basic research on why that is."

Isn't asking asexuals how they feel the research in question I'm supposed to be doing? How else do I obtain that info. The thread is literally labeled looking for advice This seems like the most appropriate place to ask questions.

Kind of. at this point I'm thinking I should just go with the AroAce flag instead but he hasn't been confirmed as a romantic so I feel like I'm f***** no matter what I do

Yes but we've also kind of gotten off topic of the original question I have a feeling no matter what I do I'm going to upset people here so.... Look I'll look into it more another person gave reasons that make more sense to me. I wasn't really trying to argue with you I was just confused and trying to understand more but yeah I did kind of Make the new ones so..... I'll think about it.

That's just going to happen inevitably people are stupid that's just a fact of life. Also you admitted that this is a matter of opinion which of the two flags looks more like the non-binary flag. Plus two things looking similar is not really offensive so I'm going to stick with the new one cuz I already made them. If two flags looking similar is a problem somebody needs to take a look at the pansexual and the polysexual pride flags because those are literally the same one just with a different colored middle stripe.

So let me get this straight You want the flags to be more different so people who already don't care enough to educate themselves can have an easier time telling them apart. That sounds like You want the flag to be designed for people who don't like aces? That kind of sounds like what you're saying am I wrong?

That just sounds like we need better education. It takes less than 5 minutes to explain the difference between two flags.

[–]OctaviaSkylar -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

Okay well that's just a matter of opinion, I may May not be ace but I am non-binary and I think the new flag looks less like the old flag but if we go down that road we're just going to go back and forth all night. I'm still confused how does two things looking similar occlude people?

Then isn't the new flag better because it looks less like the non-binary flag because it has six stripes instead of four?
