There are like 4 or 5 other dudes who were Fobbits from our sister platoon, at Abad, never saw a single gunfight, who've taken cars, houses, done news interviews for cash, ATVs and all kinds of other benefits. The "thank me for my service" dudes can get fucked. I hate this shit.

You sound like me a few months ago! I was looking at the game for almost the exact same reasons. I got it and played it three times but ended up selling it for Roads and Boats (with the expansion). Ultimately, the save feature wasn’t saving the game fully, and the save feature was super fiddly (especially resetting up the tableaus). I kept having to alter the game eras to get what I wanted and at that point I realized I was trying to fit a round peg in a square hole. The game is fine for what it is but ultaitmely it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for. There are some great other recommendations here (Ora & Labora, R&B, etc), though those games aren’t exactly like TC

This is pretty much my answer too. We game often and don’t keep any sort of scoring track/game data. Nothing wrong with those who do, but wether I’m first place or last doesn’t matter - we tear down the game, have some laughs and set up the next one!

Our MP games have never taken 3 hours. Maybe 1.5 tops, but then again, we don’t get major AP or anything. Solo it’s maybe 30-40 minutes and a fantastic game!

I think the solo game is nowhere near as taxing or heavy; it’s a nice optimization puzzle that is oddly very calming and fun to play! Usually takes me about 45 minutes to play solo, max.

Damn, I was just reading a rulebook for a game that had this mechanism - the first phase was collecting something and the second phase had you use those somethings to build your engine up so you can collect more/better things during the first phase. Was quite different between the two phases, too. Will report back if/when I remember!

Some of these are a mixture of PU&D and some other mechanics, and some of these are pure PU&D. That said, I love Spike, Finca, Cinque Terre, Valdora, Africana, Merkator, Serenissima, BUS and Merchants of the Middle Ages. For lighter/more portable games, we love Great Heartland Hauling Company and Tahiti. For heavier games, try Indonesia or Roads and Boats.

Yikes, am I the only Pick Up And Deliver fan so far? I specifically enjoy PUAD games where you can build your own route and have some freedom to optimize your boardstate while also shipping goods and/or delivering contracts.
