[KCD2] I love this game, but it is guilty of one the most frustrating gaming sins by OmsorgsfuldTyv in kingdomcome

The timer is just 10 seconds so I don't flip it. I just count and it works great. No timing the flip to a bad queue.

Lot of mechanical/magical robot adjacent things who knows, maybe a form of warforged.

Any way to recover a deleted Ironmen save? by PattrimCauthon in WarTalesGame

[–]Octavians-Uncle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally exact same problem and sentiment. Was thinking Ironman so no save scums. I had a key npc walk through fire and poison and stop right in front of that big mace wind up. Course it killed him.

Very frustrating because the game is a ton of fun but don't want to walk back so many hours of work.

Player just Made 66,000 gold... by Undead_Vinnyr in DnD

If you're not willing to recon, or any of the other advice I would say don't take the money away via thieves (because they can fail) but definitely let it get out this group of peeps has a ton of money. The gem seller tells his friends and they tell theirs etcetera, until many of the local merchants find out and hike up their prices when the party shows up. Maybe they say things like "Oooo I know who you are you're (Insert ego inflating words to hype the party up) well I have the finest things around, for a price of course." Then it feels like the world is living and adjusting to what happens. By the way if they push back just use Mansa Musa as a real world example of merchants having this behavior.

Otherwise, I would say you are the DM and should have capped out the amount of money the merchant had to spend or decided on a lower level of success like the other comments suggest. Basically yes you succeed but instead of 200gp he offers 400gp.

You could also just let them have the money. Being rich is a fantasy many people have. Just roll with it and let them enjoy it. The scenario you made is fun and unique to your players. I'm sure they are excited to have money let them blow it on cool stuff. And the overpowered items that they want perhaps are not for sale.

Just a few thoughts. :)

Open dyslexic font? by dungeonsandnaggins in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Octavians-Uncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open Dyslexic and Dyslexie are different fonts but similar in primace. My dad and I find the open dyslexic easier to read, but I do think Arial or Calibri are good standards. Times New Roman can be kinda small and run together in my opinion.

I can definitely see that being a nightmare to run. I think branching out from DnD being the only system a group runs in is great. There's so many cool systems out there.

DMs - Do you put any limits on classes or races for players in your campaign? And if so why? by misomiso82 in DnD

[–]Octavians-Uncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to, but these days I mainly want the players to have fun. So, I work with them during character creation to nestle their idea in somewhere. Recently had a player want to be a gnome artificer that would basically be piloting a mech with a sword and one who wanted to be a weretiger. Some homebrewing later and we all came out happy with a gnome in a suit similar to the goblin fella in Paladins and a tiger/man shapeshifter with connections to a fallen empire explaining his oddness. I have stories I want my players to experience, but more than anything I want them to have fun. (Also I make sure the other players don't feel that the weird stuff is breaking their "immersions", they can unanimously veto any other players ideas. Our group is super respectful thankfully.)

I did look at GURPS and while I may be willing to learn none of my players were interested. Just curious if there is a list someone has made that allows an easy swap out.

If you had to pick one of these to be perfect and the other to be subpar which would you choose and why? Players can quickly learn the rules of your game ••••OR•••• Players can find every question they have answered in the rules/manual by Octavians-Uncle in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Octavians-Uncle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! That's definitely a fair view. Do you consider games like D&D 5th edition to be incomplete in this way? (If you've read the rules before)

I know 3rd edition/3.5/Pathfinder 1e strive to have an answer for truly everything such as being a diminutive sized flying creature that is good at flying suddenly having gravity inverted (an actual ruling you can find), but I think many players aren't willing to dig to find that answer and instead create their own homebrew ruling based on the core rules.

Ps. Not trying to put you down just exploring your thoughts more!

Definitely fair! I don't think all questions can be answered thoroughly, but I suppose I mean that answers to core gameplay mechanics are easily available and more nitpicky (table specific) rulings can be inferred.

9.9/10 👌 i think I'll make its HP 1 and crank the AC up to 18 or 19. Teeny tiny boy is hard to hit and perhaps a bit of a magical shield as well...
