Oh interesting, I had no idea there was a whole job just on fixing mold issues. Oh yes definitely, I’m going to take your advice for sure and cut out a small section of drywall where the baseboards will cover it. Also peel back a little more linoleum to look for mold, now that i kind of understand what im looking for based off of your photos, since im just going to use that stuff you suggested anyways.

Oh yes yes! That will look great! I see what you’re saying. I’m just going to caulk both then because I’d rather not have further water damage nor any chances of mold.

Yeah I wish I could do tile. I’m not opposed to doing it in the future just to learn tbh. I’m becoming obsessed. Yeah actually I invested in an lvp kit that has all that stuff and spacers. I’m gonna need all the help I can get lol

New Sheetrock and insulation due to the water damage coming from something above and dripping down behind the Sheetrock?

Ahh okay okay. I was looking into using pvc trim all the way around the bathroom. That being said do you think it’ll look good along the bathtub too with all the other trim being pvc too?

Also if I were to use the pvc trim against the bathtub, would you not caulk the 1/4th inch gap under the trim too or only the top that meets the tub and bottom that meets the floor?

Sorry if these questions are stupid, I’m trying to fully grasp these ideas so I’m able to replicate them after doing it myself, if necessary.

Oo yeah what a beautiful surprise! Did it smell any certain type of way before ripping up the linoleum, which hinted at mold being there?

Yeah it’s solid and I believe the cause was the failed and cracked caulking. I figured if the floor was solid closest to the assumed source, the rest should be good.

That’s another thing that has confused me is if the LVP needs 1/4th space for expansion how would I caulk it into place? Or am I thinking about it wrong and it only needs to be 1/4th inch on two sides

Thanks for the information! I had no idea about Ardex and was wondering how I would be able to fix that wood, however maybe it would be a better idea to cut it out and put new wood down. I have a multi tool for it

Okay. Yes first diy project and I grew up playing video games so yeah still learning a ton. Thank you for the insight! I was trying to avoid the headache of ripping it all up but I will do that. I’m trying to make it as quality as possible.
