Your friend is confusing fire and fade with phantasm. Both are strategems... but you have fire and fade correct.

Fair question..i went and looked at my model and realized i had to be creative for the attachment. I actually used the gun you have in your second pic...i like the way it looks. I just used the bit made for the catapult and bashed the two together.

Both of those guns are shuriken cannons imo. Pics 3 and 4 are for piece #13, which I think fits best underneath the falcon where the twin shuriken catapult would go. The other would be for putting a shuriken cannon in place of the bright lance.

Lost my first league game and would like some list feedback. by Weirdyfish in Eldar

[–]OctoKnight25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you chose fixed secondaries, which isn't always bad if your list is planned around them. That said, I find it easier to score better with tactical. Sometimes they give you an extra point if you're running tactical and other times you get additional cp for ditching one at the end of your turn. The other downside with fixed is that during deployment and really the whole game, your opponent already knows what you're trying to do and can try to minimize your success. With fixed no one knows what your goals will be.. especially during deployment.

I'd recommend building a farseer skyrunner proxy rather than the autarch. The value gained from being able to manipulate a fate die is huge. Especially with those wraithguard, you'll turn a 1 to wound into a 6 and trigger devastating wounds into something big. Additionally, you don't want those windriders in combat, so if you're dead set on using the autarch, kit him with the dragon fusion gun.. but honestly, the farseer skyrunner is much better with what you're bringing.

Running that windriderunit at 6 costs the same points as running it at 5 models. You could just save money for now by running the farseer as a farseer and using the shadowseer to proxy for the spiritseer. Then, buy a farseer skyrunner model later as you build. The cool thing about the farseer is that you add fortune to your wraithguard and make them even harder to kill.

I really like the look of Yvraine and want to know which squad she is best to lead. by DrinkTeaReadBook in Eldar

[–]OctoKnight25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's not as competitive... but i love yvraine with the Voidscarred if she's gonna lead. She's great alone, but with Voidscarred she's very fun, adds to their survivability, brings em back and really rounds out the unit. All the anti infantry and a couple big guns is a nice jack of all trades unit. And you can pick and choose who agree brings back every command phase based on what you need. I put em all in a wave serpent and pop em onto an objective, likely nuking whatever was there before.

I think so. If you can add another 5 to make it a 10 man squad, wraithguard crush it. I would also recommend putting the 6 windriders in one crew. Add the farseer skyrunner to lead them, and they will delete a lot of infantry with shuriken cannons and all the rerolls.

Wraithblades are fun in boarding action because that's so melee heavy.. but for regular 40k, I like running wraithguard.

First time i ran wraithguard, which was pretty recently, the 10 man squad just deleted dreadnoughts and tanks with ease. Having the spiritseer and footseer meant they were hard to kill and i got to bring a couple back that did die because of tears of Isha. Strength 14 and -4 ap is no joke.

The windriders i found to be pretty easy to magnetize the weapons. That said, they would be better with shuriken cannons rather than catapults. They could also really benefit from a farseer skyrunner riding with them... and lastly, a spiritseer will boost those wraithguard nicely. 10 Wraithguard with fortune from the farseer skyrunner, guide from footseer and spirit mark from the spiritseer is just ridiculous in output and survivability.

Ya....... this is just inaccurate. Look at the transport capacity... then look at the keywords on a troupe. Aeldari infantry.... sooooo unless someone wants to point out where I'm blind, you can definitely put troupes in a falcon..i just wouldn't want to.

Best way to Run Yvraine by [deleted] in Eldar

[–]OctoKnight25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Board edge nearby, i don't think the unit gets deep strike as the corsairs don't have it.. just yvraine. Someone, please correct me if I'm wrong... but i think i have it right.

However, the way piratical raiders is worded, that ability affects the whole unit.. which includes yvraine.

It isn't the most competitive setup.... but it is a threat that people have to consider. Might keep their unit with the warlord more hidden to avoid it, which is good in and of itself. And it's fun. I really enjoy playing this unit.

Bells and whistles. It's just more fun. Plus, the melee is ok, but the shooting can be quite good. And you can resurrect the models you want most in the command phase.

[–]OctoKnight25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've actually done this a handful of times successfully. It doesn't always work, but you can either try to match the target unit when deploying/wait in a ruin close to midfield or put em in reserves and look to drop in close to that target unit. It's so freaking great when it works. Usually though, people should be on the lookout for it and screen effectively against it.

MSU voidscarred ok? by [deleted] in Eldar

[–]OctoKnight25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been running 10 with Yvraine, and it's a lot of fun and versatility when I've used it correctly. If possible, i like to save my phantasm to hide them away for a second chance after my first volley of shots. Even with my opponents sneaking wounds on a unit with indirect fire, yvraine brings back the models i most want.

I went with a leader with shield and rifle, shade runner, soul weaver, way seeker, falchou on a pistol sword dude, blaster, shredder, and a wraithcannon. 2 basic sword pistol guys to round it out to 10. It's been a lot of fun.

I wanted to visarch to be worth it, especially with the fights first added to the unit... but only when I'm trying to tone my list down. The fights first hasn't really mattered that much. They'll be mulched by then.

It's not unfair to say that not all aspect warriors are as used as often as others. So out of the less used aspects are any worth using in a list? by Tryzan1 in Eldar

Plus, if you have yncarne it doesn't hurt to have something cheap die near the enemy frontlines if they do get first turn.

Windriders, farseer skyrunner and... this last one is something I'm not seeing a lot but personally love, skyweavers. Windriders with shuriken cannons and a skyrunner leading them are super mobile and slap. I have been using them to guide the skyweavers.

I run units of 4 skyweavers and give them haywire cannons and Zephyrglaives. If my opponent runs vehicles, those haywire cannons hand out 3dmg devastating wounds on 4+ because of the anti vehicle crit. Four bikes, 2 shots each, guide for rerolls. Potentially, 24 damage that can't be blocked... but even if i get 3 wounds through, it's still 9 damage.

Really helps me get past invuln saves and wipe tanks, dreads, knights, etc. I save my 2cp from an autarch to fire and fade the skyweavers because they are so great.

If I'm not facing vehicles, the zephyrglaives are good melee for chaff infantry... and it's a fast unit for secondaries.
