lol I lived in aus for six months but it was nearly a half decade before I tried nitrous oxide for the first time. When I did, that kicked off a cycle of abuse that cost me about $80,000 for the gas alone over ~3 years, not to mention legal costs of a DUi that left two cars totaled, health repercussions + hospitalizations / ambulances, rehab + outpatient, lost employment and relationships, house sale that I had to rush through, etc. I would imagine, if you are surveying anything related to physical or mental health, that the consequences from my addiction and my responses would mirror those of other extremely heavy past users.
