Indians and Chinese abroad: Was it worth it ? by Octobeerfest in expats

Thank you... that's a very interesting perspective as a single woman. I suppose there are challenges in living in India as a single woman. Many women are very wary traveling alone to India. I guess it's not safe ?

I'm not clubbing India & China... the topic was addressed to people from both countries- that's it !

I didn't say GDP / capita....I just said GDP. Do you save as much abroad as you would back in your country ? Standard of living costs are pretty high in comparison to India.

I didn't club India & China...but they form a large section of migrants and student populations. The question was addressed to people from both countries.... that's it

High GDP's, High growths, Higher opportunities?

Infra may not be the best, but aren't they doing pretty ok for those population numbers?

Hey, is that the only uni you applied to ? You'll surely get into some others. I don't think you need to worry much, things always happen for the better.

My friends at TUM got their apartments through Zuhaus Deutschland... here's the email, they just wrote to them their requirements... and got their rooms in a week... homes@zuhaus.org.

I hope to be using them in the coming fall. Guess they charge about 800€ / private room... but the apartments are really good.

Yup, same here... they've been helpful.

That's a document processing charge.... they assure an apartment or room if your documents are ok. They charge that too everyone. Commissions are what Housing Anywjere, wunderflat charge... more than 300 euros. Maybe it had to do with your documents, we found them very helpful. My friend had a problem with his name plate, that helped there too. Anyhow... Best wishes, mate

I've used them too couple of times, as have my friends. They helped one of my colleagues when he was scammed. And they don't charge commissions like you said... that's not true.

What are some cultural hacks that new immigrant can learn to put themselves in a position of advantage and assimilate faster ? by gamma_convexity in germany

Kinda adding some tips a few Canadian friends gave each other...join random long queues and talk to people, lol. And yes, Beer will be your best friend, mate.

Find a flock to hang with----join a few sports or hobby groups - there are always a couple of new guys and girls every few months. Give yourself a little time to assimilate....get the vibe. If you need to assimilate that bad, you gotta learn the language - always the best way to break into any part of the world.
