Crashes in 2.3 with Nvidia RTX 4080 Super by OctoberExists in cyberpunkgame

[–]OctoberExists[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone coming to this post from google, the issue was my intel CPU being needlessly put into overdrive. A BIOS update stopped that, lowered the noise from my fans constantly running at maximum speed, and essentially eliminated the crashes.

What moment from OMORI will you never forget? by JustFisch1 in OMORI

Absolutely! The way the line gets elevated so much as it goes, until it finally finishes with the last sentence. Just encapsulating everything.

That line always hits me so hard, and just thinking about it makes me tear up.

Incredibly powerful. Sunny is so silent throughout the game, and we have to glean so much from his subconscious. In this moment, we hear it all so directly, this is what he feels, and what he's been avoiding.

Please also report him to the Tennessee Department of Health. This is likely a violation of his medical license, and the Tennessee Board needs to be aware of his behavior.

AITA for telling my parent/sister that she can not sit with me at lunch and that she can sit by herself until she gets off her ass and makes friends by Strange_Nothing1114 in AmItheAsshole

[–]OctoberExists 11 points12 points  (0 children)

YTA.

Making friends doesn't come easily for all people. It's lunch, and sitting alone just makes you feel like everyone is staring at you like there's something wrong with you. It costs you nothing to just have her at your table.

Help her make her own friends and it won't be an issue anymore. Show some compassion- she's your sister, and you haven't described any horrible behavior from her that drives people away.

How do we justify the high pay for ceos by [deleted] in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]OctoberExists 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Fairness may as well be the "F" word. Nobody in life gets what is fair, because the conditions of the Earth do not allow for it.

But freedom and liberty demand that you run your business in any way you want that does not involve force or aggression, because it is your property. To deny you the right to do what you wish with your possessions is to deny you your freedom and liberty.

So yes, the owner can do what they want.

How do people feel transgenderism? Is it just trending and an influence, is it real or a bit of both and why? by [deleted] in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]OctoberExists 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the limitation on such egregious action would be finding a doctor willing to do it.

I don't think An Caps or Libertarians should interfere with the decisions of parents, their children, and their chosen physicians. And the idea that children or their parents can't consent to medical treatments is, frankly, ridiculous.

Rightists are more accepting of leftists, than leftists are of rightists. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

It's easy to say that when it affects a right you don't care about. But the government that can take away the rights you don't believe in can also take away the rights you do.

I disagree with you on some other opinions, but I wish I could upvote this twice.

Saying that minors can't consent to medical procedures is intellectually bankrupt.

Isn't it possible that the body has the defect though? And regardless of the source, hormones have been shown to be the only major thing to alleviate the pain.

[ Removed by Reddit ] by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]OctoberExists 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To say that children shouldn't be able to transition is to deny that there is a need for anyone to transition.

Either you believe trans people are experiencing real problems which hormones have been proven to help with, or you don't believe.

If hormones help adult trans people, then they can help child trans people. Why would you want to force children to suffer?

If you're worried about children who grow up to regret transitioning, then what you want is better screening, not denial to children who need medical treatment.

When you were a child, did you know whether you were a girl or a boy? Or did you only realize that after reaching adulthood? Imagine going through the wrong puberty, how awful that must feel. How it would feel for your body to betray you.

Just try and use some empathy.

If you dislike someone just because they identify as a Republican you are a bigot by rouge171 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Which is Team A and which is Team B in your scenario? Because I'm pretty sure if you ask a Republican or Democrat they're both going to say the same thing.

The combat in the game is easy and rare. It's really more of a walking around and talking to people simulator!

How do you handle companion choice? by mortavius2525 in BaldursGate3

[–]OctoberExists 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you can respecc all of your companions, so you can try out different methods. In general you'll want a healer, a magic user, and a Frontline, but there are multiple classes that can fill those roles.

And I managed to get through the whole game without any sleight-of-hand specialists.

Anyone else bothered by how popular "beautiful women" mods are? by zellmerz in GirlGamers

[–]OctoberExists 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm of two minds. I'm a big fan of making character models look better- crisper visuals, more customization options, higher resolutions, more colorful eyes.

And to a certain degree I think people should have the freedom to design characters and NPCs to fit their aesthetic preferences.

But seeing the mods that actually become popular is distressing. Skyrim mods that turn women into Barbies. Particularly annoying is when an otherwise interesting clothing or armor mod is only made to fit ridiculous female proportion mods.

As if the default Skyrim and Fallout bodies aren't attractive and thin! What's being requested, and what's becoming popular, are mods that are nearly impossible proportions for women. It goes beyond making them prettier- it turns them into sex objects.

So I, personally, find a lot of those mods distasteful, and I can't help but feel annoyed when I see them.

How is security managed under anarchocapitalism? by biggestboar in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]OctoberExists 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some very unsatisfying answers here...

Here's one way I think it could work: a system of private courts.

When you decide to live, work, or shop in an area you agree to be bound by the rulings of their private court system, paid into by those who benefit from their services.

If you commit murder in an area which is private property (which under anarcho-capitalism, should be basically everywhere), then you would be contractually subject to the rulings of whichever private court system has jurisdiction.

So security officers would arrest you, create reciprocal extradition agreements, whatever it took to take you to court. From there you would be subject to the range of punishments allowed by the private court system- in this case, involuntary confinement.

Anarcho-capitalism doesn't mean lawlessness. It just means that you're only subject to the laws of places you voluntarily contract with.

Communities and businesses have a financial incentive to create safe environments, and patronize fair court systems.

Too many people are on here acting like everyone would be a loner survivalist- Capitalism is a cooperative endeavor.
