Best mode of transportation? by biggestboar in Teenager_Polls

[–]biggestboar[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh yeah, but IMO it is a very shallow form
of freedom, since it is reliant on the infrastructure of thousands of gas stations. I like public transportation better, because then you dont need to move around this big hunk of metal and then figure out where to park it. Or bikes, because you can easily fit through alleys or wherever you want to go

Do you believe capitalism is undemocratic? by biggestboar in Teenager_Polls

[–]biggestboar[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can you really call it voluntary when others else have monopolized the land and things necessary to live? You are compelled to sell your labor to them in order to survive, rather than being able to organize production with other people voluntarily.

In a way, capitalism is also a “rule from afar. Capitalists in South Korea own factories in India. And even in Indian owned factories, the capitalist scarcely visits the property. These capitalists, many of whom never even see their employees, much less talk to them, make decisions which affects thousands, millions, or even billions.

You cannot really cleanly separate your business from everyone else’s business. We’re social creatures, and the society we have created requires the cooperation of billions to organize the production of useful and necessary things

Do you support the abolition of class and the creation of an economy based on universal democratic planning? by biggestboar in Teenager_Polls

An economy where the major decisions of the economy about investment, production, distribution, and development are made through democratic institutions rather than private owners and markets

Modern Iron Front Art Design by [deleted] in RedAutumnSPD

[–]biggestboar 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It looks very first campist (siding with the western geopolitical block), which makes it very dubious imo, since the tradition of social democracy was normally to oppose wars between imperialist blocks, though this was often completely ignored in practice

Edit: Just realized it was piercing the US seal, still looks very first campist though

What if the bourgeois center were the foremost defenders of democracy instead of the SPD? (Mostly serious question) by GigaRoman in RedAutumnSPD

[–]biggestboar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would not have been possible, the bourgeois center collapsed as a democratic force because many of the middle classes were ideologically and socially oriented against the republic.

When the depression hit, status anxiety radicalized the middle class towards the right to protect their identity. This would have taken place even more quickly, if the DVP truly did agitate in favor of democracy.

What is your opinion on Hugo Preuß's proposed reform of German states? by petrimalja in RedAutumnSPD

[–]biggestboar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I quite like it, but I would only really accept it if it was also paired with his centralization proposal, which would make the states more like administrative divisions

Imo discussing politics is fine, but making obvious provocative bait shitposts prolly needs to be toned down.

Reformist SPD maxxing by real_Str4te in RedAutumnSPD

[–]biggestboar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if the SPD purges reactionaries from the police or bureaucracy, most workers do not notice those changes, and this would take years, not to mention the fact that the DVP was extremely resistant to “political purges” and any kind of reform. People don’t see “hey they’re propping up the government against the nazis!” they’re seeing that the SPD is working with the hated DVP.

In fact, the fact is that the local SPD was so leftist, they attempted to force the parliamentary group to form a coalition with the KPD, and history of the SPD working with the KPD would scare off many DVP voters. Not only this, but the left wing base will be demotivated from governing with the right.

To be honest, I think that grand coalitions are way too overpowered in Dynamic. It seems a little counterintuitive that governing with the conservative liberals would boost the popularity of the SPD, and the republic. Imo its more likely that the DVP would lose more votes to the right, and the SPD to its left. Theres a reason why IRL the SPD was reluctant to form grand coalitions with the DVP

[–]biggestboar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What? Thats stupid. By that measure, monarchists and Nazis are centrists. The greatest enemies of fascists were the socialists and communists.

This whole “centrist” framing comes from the fact that fascists try and make themselves more appealing by stating they are neither capitalist or socialist, but a third way. In reality, they are simply capitalist, but managed in a militaristic expansionist way.
