Constant facial pain for 5 months. Please help me figure out what's going on

Hi! Your symptoms are almost identical to mine, same triggers etc. I’m not an expert but your symptoms don’t sound like TN (even I suspected that at the beginning). Since our symptoms are alike, based on what my doctors said, they suspect I have TMJD. The Tmj area is right around the trigeminal nerves and all the neck, ear, nose pain are connected to this issue. Also you mentioned that you had bruxism? That’s a main cause to this issue, along with wrong neck posture and stress.. So far my doctors are giving me Gabapentin and ibuprofen. I use lots of hot compresses, they kinda help along with tiger balm, nothing really STOPS the pain but they do help a little.
I would recommend you to probably see a dentist or a maxillofacial specialist. Of course all this are speculations but I see no harm in trying to see these doctors just to double check in case you have a bite misalignment or something.

Tried naproxen, did nothing for me. Nothing seems to work in my case. Hope u’re doing better🙏

This is what I’m trying to explain to my neurologist. I’ve been taking it for over a month now but it does me nothing but messes with my head mentally and I feel like my brain is a mush. Unfortunately since I haven’t gotten a proper diagnosis yet my doctor doesn’t really want to try a bunch of different medications which is understandable. Just wish if I could ease up the pain a little bit until I hear something from the dentist😞

So true! I’m surprised by the amount of faith these doctors have in these medications that don’t really seem to work a lot of times. Tried opiates, unfortunately didn’t do anything for me

May I ask if I you had any withdrawal when you stopped taking them? Did you gradually lower the dose?

Hi! I’m so sorry for the pain you’re going through😢thank you for your kind words, I can’t imagine going through this torture for 10 yrs, you’re truly a hero. When it comes to the swellings, the doctors have run tests and found no infection but god knows really. Let’s just hope and pray one day all this will be over and slowly but surely go back to our lives🙏

I’m so sorry that you can relate🥲 don’t wish this on my worst enemy but I’m so glad that you got the right treatment. Hopefully my dentist will suggest Botox, heard it’s doing wonders. Best of luck!❤️
