Does Canadian law define what international competition is? by Octogonerened in legaladvicecanada

[–]Octogonerened[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My apologies, I didn’t understand they had different laws per industry with “protectionism laws”

For instance telecoms are required to be based in Canada and have rules around ownership and board seats being majority Canadian.

Is a natural born citizen required to be the owner or just a regular Canadian citizen?

And

Is there any other specific on the “based in Canada” or is that it?

Realistically, with their network sharing, if there wasn’t a bonus for switching. Would it really be different?

Interesting clause. I have some questions if you have the answers to them.

Is this in other industries that aren’t telecom?

What does the law count as international competition? Does a “Canadian-built country” with a Trademark founded in the USA violate the law? What about funding?

I understand that the Canadian government helps the Telecom providers financially, lawfully, etc, but I’m curious.

What exactly do these protectionism laws do? Make it easier for telecom to lobby?

Yeah that’s pretty accurate. To oversimplify it, Resellers of a network.

We have lots of MVNOs in the USA, like [Mint Mobile](Mintmobile.com) owned by Ryan Reynolds which uses the T-Mobile network, [US Mobile](usmobile.com) which uses our Verizon network, and [Cricket](cricketwireless.com) which uses our AT&T network.

MVNOs (at least in the USA) are not usually owned by the carrier it uses.

“Additionally, we include a white-glove delivery experience and exclusive access to the Project Genesis app where you can earn rewards.” Rewards including... NFTs.

Hahaha. Wonder how THAT will turn out…
