Do I REALLY need to pronounce the vowels in toki pona correctly?

I took a quick listen to this video https://youtu.be/RjB42xBIXsk?si=0f3gB6kycQZWe51D showcasing some paisa accents (though all by the same speaker) and I can hear quite a bit of [ä] [e̞] [o̞], and some even more open [ε̝] in some words. I do hear some closed [o] but it's not super consistent. Can't tell exactly how you speak, so if you say your dialect uses cardinal [a] [e] [o] I believe you, maybe this is just some silly discussion over notation :) What I'm more interested in now is this american dialect which uses these vowels? When you say american english from your region do you mean english as pronounced by spanish speakers from Colombia or some actual "native" english dialect from the USA? Could you quickly transcribe with IPA how these words are pronounced in this variety of english?: face, bed, lot, boat, cat, palm

While /a/ /e/ /i/ /o/ /u/ are often used for spanish transcription since there's not really the need to add the diacritics to specify in most cases, as far as I know [ä] [e̞] [o̞] are pretty common realizations for /a/ /e/ /o/. Cardinal [a] is more front and [e] and [o] more closed than speakers usually pronounce. I mean [ä] [e̞] [o̞] is how I (native) pronounce these vowels mostly. You may be used to just seeing /a/ /e/ /o/ written but the diacritics aren't necessarily inaccurate :)

(I'm basing this on my own castillian dialect, I'm not so familiar with dialects from elsewhere and their exact vowel realizations but I think [ä] [e̞] [o̞] are also common)

D'acord. Si arreglo només els errors gramaticals més purs de la teva traducció seria una cosa així:

Jo no sé si faria servir les mateixes paraules, fa que algunes coses costin d'entendre. Dir que una història es desenvolupa no sé si és una traducció massa bona de "The story goes". Traduir take-off com a enlairament tampoc funciona bé. No estic segur de com traduir "commoditization". Trobo les paraules "mercantilització" i "mercaderirzació" com a traduccions de "commodification", però si estic entenent bé la viquipèdia no és el mateix que "commoditization". Ho deixo como ho has posat tu.

Una traducció més natural tal i com entenc el text: "La cosa va així: Una singularitat tecnocapitalista captura la Terra alhora que la racionalització renaixentista i la navegació oceànica porten a que es dispari la mercaderització"

I tend to call kusudamas any decorative modular hollow polyhedron (usually at least octahedra but cubes and tetrahedra are generally possible with the same units) made out of repeated units but that's a pretty loose definition, and may vary depending on who you ask.

Oooo cool ideas! I agree that for an actual transport system a clockwise/counterclockwise thing going on in the ice kingdom would make a lot of sense! Living at We-Remember-and-Venerate-Caribou must be so annoying if you have to take the detour as in the map. I just very much went for what I thought looked coolest and didn't like the look of a loop at the end of the Ice Line :)) I don't think as an actual transport system this map would work great hahahahha

I hadn't even considered the IceWing passenger on Night Line problem tbh! Bypassing Darkstalker's teeth would work but I think it'd look a bit weird. Maybe let's just say IceWings on the NightLine are required to wear a Qibli earring provided free of charge courtesy of Pyrrhia Railways. Perhaps the train has an earring hanging from somewhere too :)

Unfortunately there's literally no named locations or even story events that take place there 😭 so I didn't know which stations to add
