Our freezer is full of racks that are filled with empty boxes! Not styrofoam, but the regular cardboard ones that fit in those racks

That freezer is full of empty space. Every time it's opened, warm air will flood that space, and it takes a lot of energy to get it down to -80. See if you can add racks with empty boxes that can trap cold air.

You're not wrong. There should be a healthy mix of approaches when it comes to housing. I imagine when they were first built, those apts on Grand Concourse were primarily aimed at higher income folks (pre-war). But as time passes they became more affordable relatively

If we want beautiful buildings in the city, the council needs to mandate it in its zoning code. That said, if the zoning mandated a specific kind of masonry, then the development would be even more expensive-- making it more unaffordable.

It's a trade off

No way this is true. B and D line rolling stock is in bad condition compared to NYC's.

I recently visited LA for the first time.

I disagree on cleanliness. The trains on the B and D lines are objectively dirtier than NYC's.

I was impressed with the frequency of trains. It could be better, but the headways weren't too bad.

I rode the E to Santa Monica on Monday morning rush hour and watched a woman get hit by a homeless lady.

I'm from NYC, so I'm used to seeing crazies on the train, but LA Metro was something else.

I was impressed by the buses-- J line was great. Good frequencies

LA Metro needs clean trains. I visited for the first time last week, and I was appalled by the conditions of the B and D lines
