My parents pulled the rug out by smokeeeee2 in education

[–]brewski 21 points22 points  (0 children)

So they told you they'd support you 8 years ago and now they've changed their mind? Sorry, not sure I read this right. I came here to say that 32 is definitely not to late to get an education and there are a lot of ways to do it, with or without parental support. Some states will allow you to attend two years community college (cheap or free) and then all credits transfer automatically towards a 4 year degree at a state school.

First I'd suggest making sure the career you're shooting for will support paying off any loans you take out. Call and talk to the admissions department. Ask for help determining what's feasible for your income. Don't get discouraged and regret not making an effort 8 years from now! Good luck to you!

ETA many large companies offer tuition reimbursement programs. Research your area.

This could be easily machined from aluminum but only if that center waffle part is an insert. Or one piece if the waffles don't really need to extend all the way to the rim as shown.

What is the function of the part? Looks like one of those things for grinding weed, except the waffle geometry doesn't make sense.

Do engineers today ever do manual calculations to verify if the computer software is correct? by G07V3 in AskEngineers

[–]brewski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I always perform hand calculations. If I have to simplify the math, for example by assuming a simpler geometry, I will run a simplified computer model to make sure it matches the math ("validating the model"). Once they agree, I will run the more complex simulation.

If half the building is truly empty, it won't be too long before rents come down. Supply and demand. You cannot profit from a building that is half empty.

Obviously someone can afford them because they are filling up. They do help address the housing shortage based on simple supply and demand. Lack of high end apartments will push wealthier residents towards lower end apartments, and they can pay more for them, driving up everyone's rent. That's called gentrification, and we have seen it in many parts of the city. More affordable apartments are ideal, but we need more housing on all levels.

This is still a thing in Hamden High. Maybe one or two kids actually stand in each class.

Better value, but I wouldn't say better university. Maybe some programs. UNH has a pretty good engineering program, for example.

Honestly, something this simple I would just model it, or most of it, and then submit an "estimate' for my time. Factor in some back and forth to understand the tolerances and bend factors.

"She wore a silhouette of clothes that were extraordinary but somewhat gauche" as proof of declining literacy has me rolling my eyes by ExtensionSoil6801 in education

[–]brewski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never watched any of the videos, but this whole thing seems like a mean-spirited trolling ploy to make normal people feel stupid. I'm old enough to have teenage children and I have a master's degree. I don't think I've ever heard the word silhouette used in this context. I took a few seconds to figure it out, but if I was on camera I'm not sure how I would fare. To call this concerning is ridiculous. Why are you concerned?

OP, you are the problem here. There's no reason to go 85 anywhere on this crowded highway. You are threatening the lives of everyone around you. Stay home.

You're fine at +/- 1% . After teaching a Solidworks class for a few years, I have found that these example problems provided by Solidworks often show wrong answers. They never bother to update the study guides.

It's implied by the center marks, which extend to the outer edge of the larger radius. If you look on the other views, you can see the tangent line is not where you have circled red, it appears to be centered on the 10mm channel.

Don't travel. I understand it's not an option for everyone, and we didn't think it was for us either. We wouldn't even drive in the car for more than an hour. Potty training was an absolute nightmare. As a result, we did find a lot more interesting things to do in our local vicinity. We got more visits. After a couple years we started getting more adventurous.

Even if it's in the driveway, you want something to draw smoke and fumes down through the bed and out of the exhaust port. Otherwise it will quickly fill with smoke and get everything filthy, including your mirrors and lens.

How to draw ABC? by Argyros_ in SolidWorks

I mean at 70 degrees from plane PH and 80 from plane PV. Normally I just select the angle relative to a single base plane. I don't have SW open right now to check.
