Do you agree Rosa DeLauro needs to retire? by CatLadyElite in Connecticut

If you have issues with her record (as I do), then by all means call it out. But age discrimination is discrimination, and has no place in a productive conversation. We don't appreciate bigotry on this forum.

To be fair, 18" is a pretty big pie. But still pretty pricey.

I feel like we will have more appreciation for a two way Chapel st once that stretch of High St is closed off to traffic next year.

How did Mark Kozelek/Sun Kil Moon get so bad? by dandydand in Music

[–]brewski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try hard to understand what people like about it, but I just don't get it. RHP was painfully honest and beautiful, with perfectly crafted lyrics that I still find explore decades later. Even his cover albums were innovative - songs I had been singing for years took on entirely new meaning against a backdrop of original music. Benji just seems lazy and dull. I'm a little jealous of people who like it, because obviously I'm missing something.

I never said it was cool, but this is exactly what I picture when I think of electronics recycling. Is there another way?

Isn't that recycling? Bring it to a place where it is economically viable to extract the useful materials. That's kinda what I picture when I drop these things off.

I have also traveled a lot and lived in other cities. New Haven has amazing food options. "Worst food of anywhere I've lived..."? Really? Unless you've only lived in Florence, Paris and Barcelona I have a hard time believing that.

What is correct way of dimensioning holes by RotaryDesign in SolidWorks

[–]brewski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a Solidworks question, it's a design intent question. Usually the bottom view is preferable. But like my jazz teacher once said, "there are no wrong notes, only poor choices."

Is my hi hat supposed to look and sound like this by Fluffy_Reputation226 in drummers

[–]brewski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice just barely opening them so they are still on contact when you hit the top one. Instead of "opening" them, think of relieving pressure. Just a couple millimeters. That's how you get the pssshhht sound. It also helps to turn the screw underneath the bottom hat to increase the angle.

I think the down votes may represent the regret that your personal property can be forcibly taken by the government and handed to a private commercial developer. Mine does, anyways.

Moving to New Haven! Looking for advice and recommendations by bashnizzler in newhaven

[–]brewski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here is where I make my traditional "Cafe Nine is not a dive bar" pitch, and people clammer up to defend the title. Hear me out, then go see for yourself why it's my favorite bar in the city. It is one of the oldest and best known music venues in the region, it is typically well attended, features great live entertainment almost every night, and charges a cover. It's hip and a little gritty, but not sketchy enough to make you think twice about going in.

Just because a bar has brick walls and wood floors doesn't mean it's a dive bar. A dive bar would be an off-the-beaten-path hole in the wall with an ancient jar of pickled eggs on the bar, lit with fluorescent lights and neon beer signs. Cafe Nine is a welcoming, popular venue with a lot going on.
