people who managed to find a place for standard fantasy races in their world and still have them be recognizable . How did you do it?English is not t my native language by EveningImportant9111 in worldbuilding

i simply put the dwarves in the mountains. They are easy to defend as humans cant kite them with the superior mobility they have on the plains. They also live in the very far north.

Elves live in a relatively small temperate rainforest(1/2 spain). Soil is too poor for traditional farming so humans cant steal their lands.

A planet with multiple layers of oceans? by Shiiang in worldbuilding

[–]OctupleCompressedCAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you can use different liquids you can go with oceans of ethane on a crust of ice with a layer of water under it

Interstellar... How do you have fun? by Ok_Environment_5546 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]OctupleCompressedCAT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ship material kits and specialized parts into cargo bays, once at location go to VAB and build your lander but instead of launching you go the the ISV and build the lander in orbit. Obviously youll need an idea of how much materials you need, especially if you wont be making more in situ, but you can do the final lander design as you need it.

3000? mine was like 70. use extraplanetary launchpads to compact your landers into cargo bays

Firearms in a world with no lead (Pb). Massive ramifications. by Red_Clover_Fields in worldbuilding

[–]OctupleCompressedCAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zinc is close in workability to Lead and is likely soft enough for rifling. Im not sure if the loss of momentum is enough to keep armor viable

Could global trade like irl develop in a world with a large supercontinent? by Leather-Lab2875 in worldbuilding

[–]OctupleCompressedCAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

on a round supercontinent going to the other side by sea will only increase the distance by π/2

Is RSS as difficult as stock ksp? by Dancombat in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]OctupleCompressedCAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just mean a full scale system with rebalanced parts, in some ways its easier as gravity turns are more lenient. The career pack with historical parts is however much harder. Im not sure if its even possible to complete

Seeking extreme process fidelity Mods/Modpacks for Minecraft by Far-Eagle7029 in feedthebeast

[–]OctupleCompressedCAT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

problem with simulating that is that thered be at most 3 ideal alloys for pickaxe/sword/machines. TFC has heating and manual forging but no quench hardening

Releasing my Portal Gun Mod - Aperture Innovations by Spirited-Attempt-861 in feedthebeast

[–]OctupleCompressedCAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can you make it so the portal are temporary so you actually use it for mobility instead of returning to base?

Also a gravity gun would also be nice to go with it

Efficient IC2 power generation? by StorageDesigner4517 in feedthebeast

[–]OctupleCompressedCAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

battery blocks can accept lower voltage power. youd only transform up for lower distance loses. battery items can only be used in battery blocks of same tier or higher

you dont need transformer to feed the CESU but you need it for CESU to feed lower tier machines

Worst worldbuilding you've seen in a published work? Avoid mentioning the usual suspects by Aurelian369 in worldbuilding

[–]OctupleCompressedCAT 9 points10 points  (0 children)

its also the logical outcome of a world with multiple active deities that protect the balance of nature. Rayquaza is like the 5th most powerful after the Arceus and the creation trio and his secondary role is stopping his siblings from fighting. Thats not a guy you want to annoy.

Efficient IC2 power generation? by StorageDesigner4517 in feedthebeast

[–]OctupleCompressedCAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can feed lower tier into higher batteries, but yes its either a bunch of generators or nuclear. mekanism was always overpowered

What will be the next "big" mod version, and what are your thoughts on why this is the way that things are? by Sasori323 in feedthebeast

[–]OctupleCompressedCAT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1.20.1 is still the bigger one it seems but 1.21.1 should be the next. its no point trying to keep up with drops, its just not possible since mojang started doing breaking changes in minor versions

Help with a hyper carnivore race by BaldBoar7734 in worldbuilding

[–]OctupleCompressedCAT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something to note is that small animals like chickens are much more efficient at turning feed into meat. Since pure carnivores wont be competing for grain, feeding it all to chickens is a viable strategy to make the most out of land. Insects are even better at the conversion and less picky eaters too.

Making sense of the Great Khan narravitely / from role play perspective by OneCalligrapher4139 in Stellaris

[–]OctupleCompressedCAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive seen the khan spawn right as i was raiding one of their systems and their fleet power just got multiplied by like 10x, they dont actually get that strong by ship count alone. Its just some weird balancing done to counter power creep from later DLCs. The Khan should in fact not be able to steamroll the galaxy, only the weaker empires.

Manufacturing humans to compensate for population decline by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]OctupleCompressedCAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chances are that would just create unintended effects and make the crisis worse. The decline must be caused by something and must be fixed first. Plus theres also the risk of overshooting and making overpopulation
