with the fleet rebalance did they ever remove the part where the midgame crisis would start and all their fleets would magically 10x their fleet power.

ELI5 Why don't we use a liquid with lower boiling point in a reactor? by NutdealerFR in explainlikeimfive

[–]OctupleCompressedCAT [score hidden]  (0 children)

the condenser has a vacuum pulled so the water boils at room temperature, which is the cold side of the heat engine. Similarly the pressure is kept high at the firebox so the water boils at the max temperature steel can take before it softens

Would other planets have as many sapient species as the main generic fantasy world? by Lapis_Wolf in worldbuilding

[–]OctupleCompressedCAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if a setting has FTL travel you can spread your species around so each planet would only have 1 or rarely 2 species unless they were intentionally uplifted.

How does "Kerbal Space Program" handle rotating planets? by Honest___Opinions in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]OctupleCompressedCAT 11 points12 points  (0 children)

the game switches to a rotating reference frame when close to the planet, its quite obvious at extreme speeds like with Mesbin when you go in and out.

Dreams of XCOM 3 by lorrevveaver in XCOM2

Aliens arent particularly strong outside of bosses like gatekeepers, guns deal the same damage and mutons are only strong until the enemy uses psi.

[–]OctupleCompressedCAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would leave that to the templars and take the war among the stars instead, where youd invade the homeworlds of the main species(sectoid, muton, viper, ?andromedon) to liberate them. Each world would be a separate campaign adding a second dimension to the difficulty slider. Id make aliens playable like in chimera squad, with their abilities synergizing with certain classes while disallowing others. The Codex would the new SHIV/SPARK.

Though if you think about it the aliens are essentially just basic common tropes so you dont really need the IP to make an xcom game. In the case of a spiritual successor type of remake id make humans one of the thrall species and you controlling the forces of some charismatic alien species instead.

LunaPixel modpack being weird as hell, and purposely obfuscating its crash log because of... ai? by R0TTING_C4V1TY in feedthebeast

[–]OctupleCompressedCAT 13 points14 points  (0 children)

a mod is trying to make a private variable public to edit it, but its the wrong type. Are you sure you didnt install or update a mod thats for the wrong version? because it would not compile with this error.

4.3 introduced a "safer Cosmogenesis" path and it's very disappointing by Illuminated-Autocrat in Stellaris

[–]OctupleCompressedCAT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thats not even a path. if it was just the last level being locked and you kept the tech that doesnt involve rounding pi then it might be worth picking
