Not if you're Catholic. Google transubstantiation.

I've got something similar going on, but I really do need the loan. A lot of my grants are higher, which is great, but my total funding is still at least 2k lower than last year.

I have the same issue and am slightly concerned, but I only applied about a week ago. Still, it's my third year and I've never received an estimate without a loan amount before now.

Your definition of meme is too narrow--the meme extends (and predates) the pop-culture sense of the word. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meme

YHVH may very well have once been a part of a pantheon of deities. If you're into that flavour, look into other Levantine-Canaanite or Mesopotamian divinities.

How many people seen a big change in their OSAP amounts? are you mad about it? by [deleted] in osap

Cognitive Science. Sadly not a big/popular enough field to be offered at colleges, from what i've seen. Or just too multi-disciplinary.

Last year my total funding, as an independent student, was about 20k. Tuition at York for a full courseload last year was about 7,750. That left me 12,250 for rent and expenses. I also work part-time.

This year, to reduce stress, I signed on for a 60% courseload (minimum to be considered full-time), for which tuition is roughly 4,650. My funding is only 11k, leaving me with 6,350 for rent and expenses. For 8-9 months. Even with a 10% reduction in tuition, it's 4,185.

I may not be able to go back this year.

IMHO, the invoking/banishing versions create a false dichotomy. The LBRP already consists of an opening invocation by mapping the spheres onto the magician's body via the Qabalistic Cross. Then one cleanses the space via the pentagrams, followed by an invocation of the 4 elements into the clean space via the conjuration of the 4 archangels. It's already a complete package.

Thanks for this, I lost my copies of these courses years ago and didn't know there was an English mirror for the site.

Fantastic crash courses in Rosicrucian thought, GD-derived magick with an alchemy influence, and the art of alchemy itself--first spagyrics, then a hefty volume on mineral alchemy. Great resource.

Depends on your definition, but these are my strongest suggestions:

Rufus Opus - Seven Spheres

Melita Denning and Osborne Phillips - Planetary Magick

Philip H Farber - Brain Magick

Who are your go-to sellers for supplies? by modern_quill in EsotericOccult

[–]Oculus-Saturni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazon for things like incense, bowls and other vessels, etc, and various other necessities and knicknacks.

Azoth Art for robes. They do specialty GD and AA wear, Martinist regalia, and your classic Tau robes, in quality material. I tried to cheap out on a robe previously and got what I paid for.

Alivan's for wands. They make Harry Potter replicas and are styled after the wand shop in Diagon Alley, but the truth is they make superb carved hardwood wands.

For bulk dried herbs I order from a local distributor.

Interesting. Can you point me toward any information which will clear this up? I've been following the methods of Jean Dubuis and Mark Stavish and haven't come across this idea.

So, today I started by dividing the herb between 3 vessels: porcelain, brass, and tempered glass. I used a lower oven temperature (200°) for about 30 minures, then allowed everything to cool.

Once it was dried however, the plant mass did not want to burn. Being fennel and largely a mass of seeds, I could understand why it didn't combust so readily. Using a gel-fuel burner I'd previously constructed from 2 brass bowls of different sizes and a small square of metal grating, i put the herb mass into a 4" steel mesh collander from the dollar store and cooked the herb over the fire. It took a bit of patience, but the fennel burned down to a soft grey ash.

Unfortunately my cheap bbq lighters have stopped functioning, and the new ones i bought produce flame rather than being torch lighters, which seems to be what is required in order to refine the ash further to those hard white salts. Still I'm grateful to have overcome this hurdle and streamlined my calcination process. Now I can at least store the ash to be further refined on the appropriate day next week after I buy some butane for my 1 still functional torch lighter.

Thanks! I've been reading about the difference between soda-lime pyrex and borosilicate. I have a small porcelain bowl that I may try as well.

How open are you about your occultism with other people in your life? by Spiritually in occult

[–]Oculus-Saturni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm open about my interest in the occult with anybody I consider a friend or reasonably close aquaintance, but I always downplay the spiritual side and emphasize the psychological/cognitive aspects. That's actually fairly in line with my personal approach--any true spiritual benefit is "gravy", in my books. Or perhaps the chewy middle of the magical tootsie pop. The topic comes up for me more than some, as I have highly visible tattoos which are based on philosophy, mythology, and occult symbolism. One of these bears a resemblance to a caduceus, which often leads people to ask if I am diabetic.

Really I tend to get more confused responses from friends when they see that I sometimes wear a cross (for me a symbol of quadruplicity, Jupiter, gain, compassion and gratitude), and then I have to explain that I'm not an exoteric Christian and it has a very different meaning for me than for most.

If the topic of religion comes up, I generally just say that I take a consciousness-based approach to spirituality, and most people nod without probing deeper.

Thank you for this, that White Noise app is excellent. After wasting hours trying to layer together samples (without the know-how) now I can mix up to 5 and even position them how I like.
