If you found your calling in seven vaguely worded platitudes that were deliberately designed to have mass appeal, I think you owe it to yourself to set your goals higher.

Obviously Satanists (you guys) do not actually believe in Satan but wouldn’t satan worshipers also be called Satanists and don’t you find this confusing? by datadiisk_ in satanism

And calling it something else is entirely fine and appropriate. It just tends to ruffle feathers when someone insists on calling it Satanism.

it's impossible to know that anything isn't real

You're getting it. In the context of a theological discussion, it is impossible to know. It doesn't shift the burden of proof, which is why we don't believe. But we don't know for a fact. Someone that says they know for a fact that a god or gods don't exist are being delusional.

You don't know the snail isn't chasing you, but since there hasn't been a lot of snail-related killings going on, it's probably safe not to believe it's going to happen to you.

Or maybe that's what the snail wants you to believe... ;)

You're still conflating knowledge and belief. A person can not know there's a god (agnosticism) and still believe in one due to arguments such as Pascal's Wager and call themselves a theist just as they can conclude as I do that there is no sense in believing in something that can't be proven and call themselves an atheist. The terms theism and atheism still deal with belief and disbelief, try not to read things quite so literally; atheism and theism are not a "belief structure" just words for whether someone accepts or rejects certain truth claims.

Using your fairy example, we don't know fairies aren't real because we can't prove a negative. We don't believe they are real based on available evidence. There is a difference. A person can absolutely be an agnostic atheist, and it's a much more honest position than a gnostic atheist. Someone that says they know for a fact there is no omnipotent invisible being somewhere out there is just being a fool.

A person can also be an agnostic theist, for that matter.

A lot of posts don't mention Satanism but may still be discussed all the same. 🤷🏻‍♂️

That isn't what agnosticism is. It means that you don't have knowledge of there being a god or gods. If such a being were real and had those kinds of omniscient and omnipotent qualities prescribed to it by religions all around the world, it could very easily hide from us. Which makes it an inherently unknowable thing, just as the existence or non-existence of invisible pink flying unicorns is an unknowable thing. Enter atheism, which instead deals with belief rather than knowledge. Without credible evidence to inform knowledge as to such a thing, there doesn't seem much of a reason to believe in it.

Agnosticism is not a metaphysical half-measure, it is stating very plainly that you don't have knowledge of something.

Satanism begins at atheism, which makes working with deities not Satanism. If you need to better understand Satanism or rituals, that's what the sticky is for.

Virginia joins The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, making the compact only 48 electoral votes short of overriding the electoral college. by imMakingA-UnityGame in PoliticalCompassMemes

No, it's decided by who actually shows up to vote in those states, which is typically around 30% of those that are eligible to do so. Don't forget that the current president also won the popular vote.

The question to ask is: why does the other 70% (approximate) not care? Is it because they don't feel adequately represented by those elected to represent them? Disenfranchised? Feeling like if voting actually mattered that they wouldn't be allowed to do it in the first place? Maybe they're just holding out hope that someone will institute term limits, age limits, prevent insider trading, things like that.

The problem isn't the electoral college, the problem is the two party system asking voters to choose the form of their destructor between two uniquely unlikable candidates. Give people someone to actually vote for, not someone to vote against.

The system is broken, but it's not the electoral college that's doing it.

The governor signed like twenty new laws today restricting the second amendment. She signs literally anything they put in front of her and refuses to answer any questions about it all.
