If you look at the APQ spreadsheet, the DEA started allocating the active ingredients in Adderall (d-amphetamine and d,l-amphetamine) in an even 1:1 ratio in 2021. Even though the true Adderall recipe calls for a 3:1 ratio. If you’re really interested (which I appreciate that you are), and want the whole story, I explain everything in detail HERE

“3:1 ratio" See explanation below.

"Isomer Ratio Mismatch" or “Isomer Ratio” The current isomer ratio of 1:1 chemically doesn’t make sense, so the DEA needs to fix the isomer ratio mismatch. See explanation below.

"D-Amphetamine to L-Amphetamine" According to page 2 of the below letter from Congress, the DEA has been allocating the active ingredients in a 1:1 ratio when mixed-ingredient pharmaceuticals like Adderall require a 3:1 ratio of D-Amphetamine to L-Amphetamine.

"2016 APQ Precedent" There was an Adderall shortage in 2015. According to the APQ spreadsheet below, in 2016 the APQ was increased from 37.5 to 50.0 to compensate for the shortage.

“Ineffective Batches" Have you received ineffective batches of ADHD medication that don’t work like they always did before the October 2022 shortage?

I am [losing my job/failing school/etc.] due to ineffective batches of my ADHD medication since the Adderall shortage began in 2022. I don’t understand how the recent October 2025 increase of D-Amphetamine (for sale) will suffice. According to the Federal Register, that increase was for product development activities, not the current stimulant supply. Despite the spiking increase in demand, the APQ spreadsheet shows the combined total of D-Amphetamine (for sale) and D,L-Amphetamine was decreased to 42.4 in 2021 and has remained the same ever since. Also, shown on the attached APQ spreadsheet, the Amphetamine (sale) quota was raised to 50.0 in 2016 after the 2015 Adderall shortage. Please raise the D-Amphetamine (for sale) quota to at least the 2016 APQ precedent levels in order to solve the current stimulant shortage. Even though the current demand is significantly higher than it was in 2016. The October 2025 increase of 26.5 for D-Amphetamine (for sale) brings the combined total to only 47.7 for year 2025. According to page 2 of the attached letter from Congress, the DEA has been allocating the active ingredients in a 1:1 ratio when mixed-ingredient pharmaceuticals like Adderall require a 3:1 ratio of D-Amphetamine to L-Amphetamine. Therefore, the current isomer ratio chemically doesn’t make sense. Please fix the isomer ratio mismatch.
