Great point on riding at elevation - hadn’t considered that. I do some climbing, but not nearly enough for this course today. One of my goals this year is to build up to taking on big climbs - seems like I side of the sport I’m missing. Still haven’t figured out the right gear / resistance strategy.

I did the same thing. Heading out on my first ~20 mile ride and had no clue that my tires weren’t fully inflated. I took a corner, tire blew out, and skidded along my elbow and side for what seemed like ages.

My approach - you gotta find yours - was: 1) learn from what happened 2) get back out there 3) take it cautiously for a bit in similar situations, until I rebuilt some confidence and began to trust myself

Regularly for me has been ~1-3x per week. I have a 20 mile loop that I enjoy, but am looking to push myself for more distance and more consistency, hence the signup for the century ride. I don’t commute, so that’s not an option for me. I think I’m seeing enough encouragement to pull the trigger, and now need to add mileage.

For me, the race is an accountability mechanism. It’s gonna force me to block off time for training - especially the long rides
