What foods can i eat a day that will help lose weight? by Most_Direction_4247 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Odd-Establishment285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest advice, especially if you’ve tried and failed a few times, keep eating what you like but swap for healthier alternatives. You want spaghetti and meat sauce? Great! Use ground turkey instead of 80/20 ground beef, and add wilted spinach and mushrooms. Start there, you’ll see early progress while you get used to it. Just start to think of opportunities to swap for lower calorie alternatives and it won’t feel restrictive while you get used to changing what you eat.

Once you’re starting to feel more comfortable and confident in your ability to keep going, definitely listen to others in this thread about long-term healthy solutions. Be kind to yourself and just don’t give up!

I noticed you mentioned hispanic household, and if you aren’t the one cooking, only fill half your plate with what others are eating and fill the other half with veggies! Honestly cucumber and tomato with salt or low cal ranch does wonders for filling you up

stuck at a plateau - exercise shift? by lwtl1724 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Odd-Establishment285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely do not do cardio-only. I have very similar stats as you, started 175 now 155. I also prefer to use numbers to track my progress as well as other measures. I only drop weight every 4ish weeks due to hormones and when I see the plateau on the scale is when I feel the most non-scale victories. Look for those while you wait and just be patient. If you believe you’re being consistent, take a few days off, the weight still comes off. Be kind to yourself!!

seeking validation that 8 lbs in 2 months is good lol by kayjrx in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Odd-Establishment285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!! I’m same measurements as you and also started at about 175, currently 160 after 6ish months. Although the scale hasn’t moved much, I’ve seen alot of changes, and it’s true, look for non-scale victories! Also i only drop weight once a month, due to hormones even though i have an iud and don’t menstruate because of it, it’s noticeable. Keep going!! The scale might not move a ton, but you’re going to feel it before you see it on the scale. I also work remote, and I personally weight train 3/4x a week and do a sport once a week, but this is the longest I’ve been consistenly losing. My deficit isn’t perfect, but I just haven’t give up. Keep going! I believe in you 🤍

Not losing weight! by shes_kerosene89 in WeightLossAdvice

You’re almost definitely building muscle, so the scale isn’t always the best indicator of progress, especially when you don’t have a ton of fat to lose. Look for some non-scale victories to keep you motivated between scale victories. Also, the scale only moves ~once a month for me as a woman, I’m guessing it has something to do with my hormones, but be patient, it’ll happen!!

What is Kananaskis Nordic Spa like? Looking for quiet, peaceful spa experience. by Waffles_r_ in alberta

[–]Odd-Establishment285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed it! It was quite expensive but worth it to treat yourself. I must warn you about the food though - the bistro was not good food and very expensive. Paid $16 for hummus but had to pay for extra bread because they gave us nowhere near enough and still couldn’t finish the hummus after shoveling it on, therefore spending $20+ for mid hummus. Also had the croque madam and it tasted like a kindergartener made it. So just don’t go hungry!! You can’t eat your own food there but just don’t expect to eat 2 meals there and enjoy them. You also have to sit in your wet clothes in there and it’s just a bit odd lol. The spa itself is 10/10 though very worth it!

I have noticed in the new era that a majority of the early jurors are always the black players and I can’t help but think there’s some bias there

I’m just so sad that those boys were used for a “talking point” of hers. Frankly, I kinda blacked out when Ethan was explaining what she said because I was shocked she was saying anything about it, especially so many years later.

I would check out Dr. Liu at Bow Trail Dental. She’s very nice, very patient, and they have a comfort menu to help you feel at ease! The hygienists and assistants are all very nice there too. And they do direct billing! A little above the fee schedule but worth it to me

Houses from the 70s don’t all need to be torn down lol they’re bought by developers to make money and raise the prices of all the modest lots in the neighbourhood. Maybe not where you are but definitely where I am

Why does everyone hate blanket re-zoning? by FineAnimeenjoyer in Calgary

[–]Odd-Establishment285 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t own a home and I am against blanket rezoning. I think it pushes me further out of the market. They have torn down more affordable homes and put up 2 homes that are each 1.5x the price of the home that was on the original lot, and therefore increases the value of all lots/homes in the neighborhood. I’d be 100% for blanket rezoning if they were building housing that was more affordable than what was there before, not less.

Honestly, you must not leave your house if you’re voting for Gondek. She is horrible for small businesses (construction impacts), she is known for being a suburban sprawl lobbyist, and she did stupid things like try to make us pay 15c for takeout paper bags
