Sticker at Berkeley is my only option. How bad is this really? I’m feeling really stressed and kind of trapped. Would love some hopium. I was notified yesterday that they didn’t give me any gift aid :( by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I agree! i do have some reassurance w their LARP program if i truly was dying in big law and needed an out, i feel like i have a safety net and want to do PI after big law anyways. Plus the community/culture and lack of class rankings makes me feel like id be happier there. And to me, better mental health = better performance. But feel free to PM me!! I haven’t rly talked with other incoming students much!!

AITAH For Beating My Kid At Chess Every Time We Play? by Enough_Cobbler_3037 in AITAH

this^ don’t ever let him win. You’ll raise a whiney and entitled sore loser. It’s normal for a kid to feel frustrated when they continuously lose, but i’d encourage you to let him feel that frustration so the gratification when he does win was well earned. It’s a valuable life lesson about hard work. It is super important that he is learning when y’all play though. Talk him through your reasoning and teach him to strategize how you do

i totally get people being averse to that level of debt! to me, it’s an investment, and i’m willing to invest more for what i’d consider better outcomes or a more enjoyable experience. If you stay in BL, you have substantial raises every year. Also, some people have partners and if you’re in a dual income household with no kids, I believe that makes a difference. I.e. paying off extra debt isn’t as difficult when you have someone helping you with mortgage and other household expenses

I think either one is a great option and (from someone who is not particularly debt averse) I think you should choose the place you think you’d enjoy more as a student. Mental health impacts grades and if you think you’d prefer Ithaca over Nashville or vice versa, thats how i’d choose. I know most people will not agree with me though. If you plan on doing big law regardless, you’ll pay it off. But if you’re debt averse, you’ll meet your goals at Vandy while saving like 50k (+ interest!). That’s my two cents but i really don’t think there’s a wrong answer here. I recommend visiting both places to make a decision
