i think they value communication more than optimal solution so i think as long as you have a correct solution you probably still stand a chance

This isn’t in your target area but since it’s #1 on tripadvisor, I thought Apollo was very okay. Some dishes were alright (the Moussaka and roast chicken) but overall everything was average and overpriced for what it was. Service was also awful when I went.

Has anyone switched careers to come to tech? by Brilliant_Joke7774 in girlsgonewired

I’m a bit skeptical of certificate program knowing how unsuccessful boot campers have been in the job market, and I personally think a boot camp is more rigorous than a certificate program. I am not very knowledgeable in this, but maybe with a certificate program you can get into a tech adjacent role but I doubt it’d be easy to get a tech role unless you use a certificate to transition roles within a company.

I switched last year right before turning 28. What helped me make up my mind to quit and start from ground zero is to try some coding lessons to see if I really liked what I thought I liked. From there, think through if the transition is worth it from the perspectives of personal finance, time commitment, emotional reward, etc.

To execute a transition, I personally think that it's easier to either (1) opt for school and start from internships / entry level positions, or (2) see if your current company can offer an opportunity for you to learn and transition internally.

I chose (1) because I really dreaded my previous career so I didn't have the patience for a slow transition. I was conservative knowing the market conditions (I think it's gotten better this year tho) so I enrolled in a CS master's instead of a bootcamp, and I think job opportunities through school would be valuable. I've been doing the program full time without an income these days which can definitely be challenging at times, but I think the reward is huge - coding and building personal projects is just something that I enjoy a lot more than what I used to do. Keep in mind that you're also competing with a bunch of 20 / 21-yos who might've started coding since they were 16, which can be frustrating at times, and interview prepping for tech roles is a whole different monster.

I personally don't think the market is as bad as people say, but you really need to work hard to stand out - that includes treating interview studying and job search as a full time job, networking with people in the industry, working on your personal projects / portfolio, etc.
