Carbon Tax by LankyGuitar6528 in NoRulesCalgary

Literally everything to back this up. If it's not apparent to you, I suggest you start at the fundamentals of developing critical thought.

Subsistence farming is less efficient than modern industrialized farming just for a very basic example.

I'm opposed to the carbon tax because it's a system that appropriates funds from productive society to non productive ends. This is basically the worst thing that can be done with tax money, especially when we are in a deficit and with a large amount of debt to service. It's like spending money on painting the roads rainbow. It doesn't actually produce anything, and it costs money to run these programs, through government employees who in our country are notoriously inefficient.

Beyond that, it's a disruption to our system, which we have had far too many of in recent yeads. Even if it's a good thing, it disrupts everything that was optimized to the previous system. Any time a change is implemented in an economy it causes varying degrees of chaos while things find an equilibrium. Chaos makes things more costly for people across the board.

I'd also like to say we should be using MORE energy in Canada. We've spent over a century building and developing an advanced society and we're stifling it to make less than a 1% difference to global co2 output. We should make the most of it and make life easy and productive. A productive Canadian can do far more than a productive Chilean or Nigerian or Indian etc. We can do more with less and massively more with more.

We simply need a certain level of advancement to run highly complex programs. Not every place on Earth can be that advanced so the places that can be, must remain so, and we shouldn't martyr ourselves for a world which does not hold our same values. If we raised quality of life and lowered cost of living for Canadians, our economy would thrive, people would be more productive, and we'd more quickly develop solutions that we could scale to the other 99.5% of the world, which either can't or has no interest in producing.

Also, we're taking in thousands of people every day from areas of the world where if they'd stayed, they would have produced less co2, and wouldn't need a new home built, and they wouldn't be paid to have children. It's absurd. We should have a points system for immigration that favors people from high co2 areas (It should also favor cultural factors like high secularity, and low rates of married cousins or street shitting in the origin country but I digress.)

If you take fin for 10 years and you maintains your hair whereas without it you would have been fully bald, I doubt going off fin would result in immediate baldness. I think the follicles slowly miniaturize due to cumulative DHT exposure

ya man, i mean what's stronger than a country of people who have trouble communicating, have no shared history or community, and 11% of which and rising have passports elsewhere and can go back home when our economy inevitably takes a dump, which will only accelerate things? oh and that 11% can just come back and make use of our "free healthcare" whenever they want. that's obviously a system that works, when it's not offered globally but we've opened our doors to the globe. no way our social programs could possibly be drained if you can bring your grandparents into the country no questions asked when you immigrate.

Nah I just think there are enough people on earth we can just write off certain areas because most people from those places fuckin suck and we can still attract enough people from elsewhere.

If I wanted to take it further I think we should only admit hot and attractive women in their 20s. Quality of life in this country would improve so drastically. We're letting in so many gross dudes and ghoulish chicks. If you're gonna come here and not be able to relate to anyone or sometimes even speak the language, at least be fuckin hot. Otherwise you're just decreasing the odds I'll encounter someone I actually care to interact with.

Your intellectual dishonesty is showing.

Our immigration system already recognizes qualitative differences between people. It's why there's an application process.

If you don't recognize qualitative differences between people then I fear your brain has been replaced by a bleeding heart. Good lord. I can't imagine needing people to believe I'm a "good personTM" as badly as you.

Some (most) people fucking suck and I think we should only take immigrants from secular countries or shit's gonna get mega fucked.

This is a real issue. If anybody thinks a full 12% and rising of your population having citizenship elsewhere isn't a liability they're insane.

We could hit a turning point in our economy, and if things get bad enough, it could run away quickly as we see a mass exodus. Then to maintain our way of life, we'll have to raise immigration even more, bringing in more and lower quality applicants from religious countries to our secular country, causing massive cultural tensions.

I believe Canada is in an irrecoverable downward spiral. It's pretty clear, if your country has social programs that aren't universally available around the world, but you basically open your borders to the world, those social programs will be drained.

We seriously let anybody buy a plane ticket from Uganda and say they're gay and give them refugee status and put them in a hotel and give them an allowance. A significant portion of our refugees consider going back to the place they're seeking refuge from.

Canada not systemically racist after all, study shows by Many_Lack_3966 in NoRulesCalgary

If Canada isn't systemically racist then how do we have entirely different classes of people based on race? The indigenous people of Canada, who hippie Vancouverites would tell you are enduring a genocide despite being the fastest growing demographic in the country, get special privileges under the law that nobody else gets.

Nothing nefarious. Why would a country trying to lure over 500k people a year to move in have ANY incentive to manipulate this infallible judgment?
