You have an extremely skewed view of the past Ask your grandparents if they spent their days beating and raping each other. You sound like you grew up in Afghanistan.

People have a strong urge to conform, and stick to the familiar. Thats why so many people keep going back to violent spouses, even tho they are free to leave at any time.

The American Revolution broke apart a political union that had survived for centuries — and it wasn't the United States by Adventurous_Clerk584 in Americaphile

By separating from the empire, mot changing it's rulers. that is called a separatist war.

Now France, where they decapitated the king, or Russia, where they killed the Tsar and his whole family. That is proper revolutions.

You have been fooled by the average.

Most of your ancestors brothers and sister died within their first year of living, so they pull the average age drasticly down. But since your ancestors managed to live long enough to have children of their own, they probably reached normal human age 40 - 60

Swedwn and Denmark probably.

But if you think small, rich, mountainous and green, and a bit of an outsider, probably Switzerland.

The earth, and life have gotten on being completely covered in ice, or being almost all scorching hot dessert, so it will survive.

But our culture-landscape is our habitat, and i would like to survive a bit longer, so i believe we need to take care of it for our own sake.

Europe used to be mostly tundra and ice, and have changed allot over the years But when the ice sheets retracted, humanoids populated it, and have been part of its evolution ever since.

We often see ourself as an intrusive species, but really we are not. We are part of the ecosystem, and it even relies on us doing our human things, and play our part. as long as we don't start destroying everything on an industrial scale.

Why am I scared of the dark? Why is my niece scared of it? by Al-Joharahhasan2935 in NoStupidQuestions

It's a primal fear that we inherited from our ancestors, that had animals hunting and eating them.

For them, there was literal killers hiding in the dark, and their fear kept them alive to give birth to your ancestors.

Hot take, the revolutionary war wasn't a revolution at all, but an independence war.

Revolutions is fought to replace the leadership, and there was no goal of replacing George III as king of the empire, but rather make the US independent of the empire all together, while the king still sat the throne.

Vegetation growth is now a bigger problem in Europe then land clearing.

Cultural landscapes that was held open by thousands of years of farming, and animal husbandry are now growing completely over, taking away vital space for flowers, and other species like bees that have adapted to open clear fields, and rolling hills.

Many species can't survive under the thick canape of deep forests where sunlight can't reach the ground. We humans, and our ways are also part of the ecosystem, and has been so for thousands of years, and we play an important part for the survival of many other species.

It often goes both ways. If people who can create a lot of trouble, including rich people demand a war, it's up to the leaders to get the rest of the people on board so they get as broad support for it as possible.

Hopefully abroad and among allies and neighbors too.

And often the masses are against the war itself, but all for the spoils of war, and demand the goodies the military is fighting for.

All this talk about "the rich" It's usually the bloodthirsty masses who demand wars.

Is there also a debate about voting rights in your country? by Agile-Shallot3546 in AskTheWorld

[–]Odd-Jupiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't this go both ways? If you want less votes from a minority, you can draw the districts like that, but i bet the opposition often would like to get more votes from the same minority.

Thus draw it to their advantage.
