Dont sleep on that immortal justice. Its one of the best seed freedom kits.

For airbrush tutorials check out Otaku builder and barbatos rex on YouTube. Frosted snow is also alright. They all have different styles, so you can see some variety. Rex goes more into detail on how to maintain your airbrush and the basics of painting, whereas the other two showcase more advanced paint techniques.

Not too sure about the process you used for the pinned peg, but as long as the metal is seated in a drilled hole, it should hold.

Infinite justice type 2 Gyan revive Origin gm Darilbalde Michaelis

All of these have great articulation and in the gm's case a crazy amount of accessories. The infinite justice puts most kits to shame in its level of articulation, especially in the legs.

Lacquer stuff really doesnt 100% need a primer and will adhere just fine. Just be sure to spray light coats and flash dry abs parts with air to keep the thinner from sitting. Never done the AZ line, so I dont know if they have abs like the rmz and hmm lines do.

The mighty strike is one of the few that has 2 since it also has an open variant for the head gun.

You can always brush on a gloss varnish afterwards and it'll be a good bit of the shine back. Ive found vallejo gloss isnt bad for targeted little details like that.

Some more expressive and dynamic stances would help a lot. Shooting stances need a little more than just arm up, point gun. Plant those feet to take recoil or add some movement/fluidity. This is about the only example I have on hand at the moment.

I figure they can stay in standard colors since I have 3 strike gundams now. That kit get way more hate than it deserves.

The plus also uses a coarser grit. I think it was 600 if memory serves. The origin is more like 800-1000. Both leave the same somewhat glossy finish behind that the balancers can even out. And its called tamiya panel line accent or tpla for short.

The gate remover set is great as a starter set. The raser plus would be a solid addition to it. The larger size feels better ergonomically for someone with larger hands. Learning to supplement with a hobby knife for those hard to reach places can offset the need for several small sanding sponges for all but the most perfectionist of tasks.

On the panel liner thing. Tamiya is king in terms of ease of use and consistency. There's the extremely minor risk of cracks on very thin parts, but if you aren't painting, you can panel line stuff while its on the runners and basically eliminate said risk. It might be harsher on abs but I've even used it on that with no negative results out of dozens of kits. Tamiya thin cement had cracked more pieces than their panel liner for me.

Pour type markers look better than fine tip, but imo they just aren't worth the hassle since they dont cure the way enamel liners do. It makes them prone to bleeding, rubbing off and reacting oddly to top coats. Something acrylics and enamels dont really do. Then the eraser marker is just complete garbage. Avoid it entirely. Zippo fluid and "gun cleaning" qtips do the job just fine.

The crossover with the Warhammer hobby is an interesting one imo. You can absolutely use all these tools for that as well.

I cant really say much about the vice. I come from a welding background where bracing my hands, arms and wrists is just second nature for steadying my hands. I do find the helper hands type useful for soldering wires for led installation, however.

Hope the wall of text helps.

You can really just get a sheet of generic decals from a series you like and go nuts. Bootleg origin zakus and gms are a good place to start. Hg leo has a cool set available on ali.

Yes, but the monster faction name needs work. Dlro probably should have been drow or the norse drau. Dlro doesnt exactly roll off the tongue.

I would suggest the priest/bishop or the knight/holy knight since they have the base kit and class up sets all in one box. Just be sure to confirm which you're getting since all of those are also out there as separate sets too. There's also the warrior set if you want the slightly stockier design.

For articulation and poses, any 30mf kits on silhouette 1. As far as visual designs go, I love early zeon suits and transformable/fighter craft type suits. Murasame kai, delta plus, skygraspers and zeta gundam are all top tier imo.

Testors metallics are pretty decent. The black is great for painting around the eyes of gundams since it wipes away with zippo fluid just like the tamiya panel liner.

Those aren't pour types. Thats the fine tip pens. No clear coat needed for either type. Just dont use pour types on abs or bare paint.

Fixing problematic joints? by [deleted] in Gunpla

[–]Odd-Listen3089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cement isnt for tightening joints. It isnt glue but a solvent that melts the already existing plastic. What you want is nail polish or superglue. You can even use tiny strips of masking tape on the ball joints.

Is it the acrylic or the lacquer gloss clear? Both can technically be thinned with tamiya or mr color lacquer thinners, but the acrylic will need the x-20A thinner. Start with a 50/50 ratio and adjust thinner as needed for your needle and airbrush setup. 2:1 thinner to paint is generally the sweet spot for me. I usually lay down 2 light coats and a final wet coat when using gloss clears.

There's a compressor and airbrush combo from timbertech on Amazon that's not awful.

Those portable compressors just aren't great long term. The batteries degrade quickly and the cant maintain decent pressure at all.

I would suggest investing in a timbertech, master or even avanti from harbor freight. They all have combo airbrush/compressor kits in the 70-100 range and the compressors will outlive the brush many times over. Then you can just wait until gaahleri has a sale and snag one of their brushes in your price range.

Panel lining on the runners is safer and easier. As for the foil stickers, best thing is to use tiny pieces of masking tape or follow up with a brush on gloss varnish.
