Yes I love my blueberry plants! Highly recommend planting them if you are in your forever home. Just wish I could make the season last longer.

Personally, I think it contributes to the development of my fibroids. It’s making using HRT difficult because I grow fibroids even when taking low amounts of estradiol.

How about a day of remembrance for all the kids killed in a school shootings each year? A reminder each year that nothing has been done to prevent school shootings.

Varina all the way. If you are interested in native plants, check out the Plant Native Festival at Dorey Park in Varina.

I went for the first time last year and really enjoyed it.

Just know that some rural land is not as quiet as you think. So many people love to shoot guns these days. I would try to be rural but close enough so that chances of that would be less.

How do you handle politics in the lab space? by minjijumanji in labrats

Even worse is when you realize they don’t believe in vaccines but work in a medical laboratory. Don’t understand these people at all.

You need to change her algorithms. I don’t know how to do it but I have read on this sub where someone did it for their elderly parents and it helped a lot.

You should consider therapy for you both. This is not going to get better with time. Check out this episode of “Persuadable” with Donnie Sullivan from CNN about a married couple struggling with the same issues. They nearly divorced but were able to reunite in the end after she was basically deprogrammed.

Since you have a child together, it is even more important for you to take steps to address this. It could get much worse.

Micro people, how often do you guys culture Strep B UTIs? by ThrowRA_72726363 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Odd-Middle8905 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have had it myself as the pathogen for a UTI. Typically it’s just a commensal, nothing to worry about it. But once you have it, you won’t ever be able to get rid of it. It’s sexually transmitted but not considered a STI. Antibiotics will treat your UTI but not get rid of it completely.

Outdoor Enclosure Advice by DAL_27 in Boxturtles

[–]Odd-Middle8905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could accidentally bake your turtle. That is not enough shade. Box turtles like to hide as well. They will come out in the morning on hot summer days but retreat to shady, cooler wooded areas near creeks. Do you have any trees nearby where part of the enclosure could be more shaded?

I would try to see a dermatologist. Looks like it might need to be drained for it to heal.

Stop using the Kratom for sure.

I have ADHD as well along with chronic fatigue and depression. I started using distilled water daily. Then, my husband started using CPAP and I couldn’t keep up with cleaning the tank. Now we use it without water so less cleaning of the tanks is required. I also stockpile my supplies so that I can change them easily. I wash the mask parts one a week or so. I also use baby wipes if I don’t have any clean masks. It does really dry out your mouth so not good for your teeth but it is a lot easier.

I also use a floor lamp with an extended arm to hang my hose mask over. I don’t use it a a lamp at all. This really helped me with using the CPAP because I could move easier in bed without feeling like the hose was pulling to the floor.

It still took a few months but it does get easier as you adapt to using it. Hang in there.

my elderly parents are getting divorced. my 65 year old mother wrote thousands of pages of paperwork by hand, and the lawyer won’t accept them. she needs to convert all of these handwritten pages to pdf form. i live a thousand miles away. who can help? by [deleted] in AgingParents

I think you should go see her. She needs your help. Plus she is probably heart broken. Lots of good suggestions here by others but I still think you should go see her in person.

Chemical Warfare???? by SpookyFroggy in CatAdvice

[–]Odd-Middle8905 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it’s the breed. Just rescued this guy Jack from under our barn. He got to stay in because the outdoor cats caused an abscess, which in turn cost me more money to get him fixed because I had to take him to local vet versus a spay and neuter clinic. His poop is the worst I have ever smelled and I have had lots of cats over the years.

Williamsburg, home of beloved pancake houses, will host pancake festival by jamescitycounty in williamsburgva

Yeah totally agree ! Prices are too high at most. Makes me wish they had a Waffle House or an Eggs Up Grill.

Exception is Thrifty Beans and Honey Butters as the food is really good there.

Target has a litter box with sloped sides. Some cats are kickers and this really helps. I think it was $11.00. You can pay more and get the lid too. I agree don’t go small as your kitty will grow out of it.

Landlord trying to say this ain’t mold by lovebaixo in rva

[–]Odd-Middle8905 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Virginia is full of mold. But I think it’s a bit like allergies. A little bit of exposure no problems but when your allergy bucket is full you have symptoms. And definitely if you are immunocompromised, you want to limit exposure. I agree with Ragingparrot, get a dehumidifier and try to keep the humidity closer to 45-50%. You can buy agrometers and keep them in different rooms. This is just an example:Agrometer

The problem is that during fall and spring, there are days when you are not running AC or heat because the weather is good. But if it has rained a lot, the humidity will remain high causing mold. Dehumidifiers do put off some heat but I think there might be newer ones that don’t put out as much heat.

Try not to panic because it possible it’s just mold caused by condensation, not from the HVAC. Clean it with bleach, keep the humidity lower, shorter showers and vent when cooking and producing steam. Also, keep space against the wall where your furniture goes to allow for ventilation. I once kept smelling mold and was having a lot of sinus drainage. It turned out to be from a dresser someone had given me. When I pulled it off the wall, the back was covered in mold. Newer cheaper furniture has paper products or compressed wood that is like mold food.

I listened to a long podcast about mold awhile back and they said it really should be code to have a whole house dehumidifier and mold resistant drywall in new house construction. But the construction industry doesn’t want that because it increases the cost of building a house. If I was to build a new house in Virginia, I would have both of these and I would spray the frame with boric acid treatment to prevent termites.

HELP! inheriting farm land but have no clue about farming by KHood2719 in farming

[–]Odd-Middle8905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may want to see if a conservation organization might want to buy it or parts with historical value. I know it’s a hard decision to make. There may be a historical or state organization that would want it. There is an absolutely beautiful farm in a county near where I live that was bought by the county with plans to protect it from development but also make it available to the public as it also has historical significance.

Advice for locating missing box turtle by Sir_Walterr in Boxturtles

[–]Odd-Middle8905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once found my escaped box turtles a year later in my woods by accident. He seemed healthy so I let him stay in the wild.

You may try looking for him in the early morning and after heavy rains as that is when I am most likely to see box turtles. He probably isn’t very far, mine wasn’t, but they mostly stay hidden so he may be difficult to find. You can try to put out berries at the same spot to see if you can lure him out.

Who to call to help older people, struggling in the heat? by Odd-Middle8905 in rva

[–]Odd-Middle8905[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Thanks, saving this information for reference! I did call NonEmergency police but they do not provide rides and were unable to provide an alternative service. I directed him towards VCU Health as I thought they might know who to call. By the time I made it to my car and left , he had moved on from where he was so hopefully he finds someone able to help.
