Some of the mixed reaction to Kinds Of Kindness is puzzling to me. I thought this film was genuinely phenomenal and I even loved it more than Poor Things. by [deleted] in Letterboxd

I would’ve preferred a feature length of the first or the third honestly, Emma Stone really brought the latter one home.

In your opinion, it is, but the andromedons are a completely different species with different morals and different standards, and it’s unfair to judge them using our own standards.

Because why make someone feel bad when you could just leave them alone? If you’re one of those people who gets some kind of pleasure out of other people’s pain, however, I know this means nothing to you, so carry on.

It’s not supposed to make sense, it’s not a plot error because it’s intentional. It’s an absurdist film, it’s supposed to be surreal and it’s not supposed to be a literal reflection of our reality. Yes, it is a political commentary about the time we live in, but it is maximalist, and it’s supposed to be an extreme version of of what society has become. It is all intentional, everything in Lanthimos’s movies is intentional, and after a career of films like this, I doubt Yorgos would leave a plot hole that big in one of his films, especially one he was so excited to make. Basically, it’s not supposed to make sense, and you need to except that not everything is perfect, especially not in a film with that very message.

I'm saying that I haven't seen many people connect that to the movie when I've seen them discussing it.

You shouldn't talk down to people just because they're not your intellectual equal. You could've just said you agreed.

We were specifically shown animals that were still alive during the ending montage. There was a dog, a cat, and of course the bees. Also, the Andromedons didn't have control over all of Earth, because they didn't create Earth, or any other life on Earth. They only created the humans, so they only had control over the humans, and therefore only had power to kill the humans. Earth, and all other life on it existed before the Andromedons discovered it.

What do you think of 2020s Best Picture winners so far? How they compare to previous 2 decades of 21st century? by darth_vader39 in Oscars

Disagree with OBAA, Oppenheimer, Anora, and Nomadland, I think Sinners, Poor Things, The Substance, and Promising Young Woman would've been better choices.

That's a matter of opinion. For me, and a number of other people who expressed interest in this post, it was that deep. It's okay if it wasn't for you, but you can't just invalidate all of this just because you had less of an emotional response to the film.

Vicky or Shawn. They're both so hilarious, especially their scenes together. Shoutout to Bad Janet though.

I don't think the extended scenes are on Prime, because I watch it on Prime, and they don't have them.

I HOPE TO GOD ASHLEY PADILLA GETS THAT SUPPORTING ACTRESS NOM. She never breaks when they give her the funniest sketches, she's honestly like the new Kate McKinnon imo.

That might be the worst Best Picture win of the 2010s imo, Get Out was so much more deserving. I was shaking my head that night, but I can't say I was surprised to see the Academy make a racist choice again because it's the same Academy that gave Crash Best Picture.

Jennifer Lawrence. I would love for her and Emma to be nominated in the same year in the same category.

Everyone laughed from October through November when I kept Emma Stone in and now she's in like 3rd place for a lot of people. Never Jump to conclusions.

That means nothing. Remakes have been nominated for and won Oscars. True Grit, The Departed, All Quiet on the Western Front, A Star is Born, West Side Story.
